Eventually there will be, so you can watch movies on the plane, though you won't really benefit much from the BD resolution on a 7" screen so I doubt it's a real high priority at this stage of the game.

The closest thing to a portable player is a blu-ray player in a laptop which i think dell and maybe sony has.

Huh Sony already has Vaio Lap tops with a Blu-ray drive in it. It can burn BD-Rs and BD-REs, as well as watch BD-videos when using the right software.

thought they are quite pricey at the moment.

and about resolution, a 17" screen that is less than 2 feet from your face is gonna look like a 50" TV in your living room. Definately 1920x1080 will make a diffrence.

Though Laptop batteries will probably last long enough for one BD movie, considering that 1080p video decoding, expecially in AVC, is even more processor intensive than modern video games.

In talking to some guys over at the Samsung store here in New York, they will mostly likely be the first to produce a portable BD player however it probably won't be for some time now.
