I'm thinking one reason it got delayed because didn't they just change it to a 4 disc set? Fun movie, I can't wait to get it.

A lot of drama follows this release...

Troma got pissed at Astron-6 when they reviewed the documentary for Fathers Day that had some less than kind things said about Troma/Lloyd. At that point they stripped the set down removing the documentary, commentary, soundtrack, and many other extras. They decided to make it a 2-disc set that was almost barebones.

Fans complained and Troma listened and decided to make it a 4 disc set and include the Astron-6 shorts, but still leaving off the making of documentary and commentary. Astron-6 have vowed to get the documentary out to fans themselves in one format or another.

Here is a link that details the problems KFelon mentioned in his post.

Man, there were pretty much no details whatsoever in that article...

This release will never see one penny from me since they had to remove the documentary and commentary. At best I will Netflix this. Really doesn't seem like Troma to censor that kinda stuff. Pretty lame of them if you ask me.

From the article:

Quote:
Accusations of broken promises and bad faith contracts are at the heart of it, but the trailer shows us other pitfalls like the charge that Troma was selling bootlegs of the movie at screenings that ended up on The Pirate Bay within a day.
Also in the video they discuss the original poster art released by Troma did not include the Astron 6 logo. I'm not sure what other details you were expecting, but I think the article spelled out pretty clearly the cause of the rift between Troma and Astron 6 which has led to the delay of the home release of Father's Day.

The article is rather vague while being really long-winded at the same time. It does make one thing clear, though: Father's Day is not likely coming out anytime soon.

Troma should just sell all their catalog to someone, the only movies worth capitalizing on are Lloyd Kaufman's anyway...

Hopefully the deal they have with Arrow brings about some stellar releases. Father's Day should be set as a non-limited edition as the 2 original poster arts were done by Tom Hodge anyways
