USA Classic Western Collection - Sept.11, 2012

Coming from Paramount

Classic Western Collection Blu-ray

Perhaps,something new will be included?

El Dorado and The Sons of Katie Elder were both aired recently on HDNet.Fingers crossed.

Wouldn't that be nice? I've been waiting for some westerns for ages, and it's been hard not to buy them on DVD. I'd like to see a mega set of the John Wayne westerns, a Jimmy Stewart western collection, an Errol Flynn western set, and a Joel McCrea pack sometime down the line. At least High Noon is going to be released in a couple of weeks.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is a strong possibilty as well, since it's already released in Region B.

Pretty sure Honda is a car. But they might release Hondo.

This has me excited...I hope it's not a re-packaging of Blu-rays already out.

My hope is that it includes The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence

Since High Noon is already scheduled for release, Shane is now my number one wanted western... and it is a Paramount release. (fingers crossed)

Probably a repackaging of True Grit/Once Upon a time in the West and a 3rd title. It is Paramount after all. Doubtful they will issue any new catalogs for a box set.

Yes, especially at that price.

I look for The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance coming to America sometime soon in an identical release to the German. Glad to see it's a solid release, though Paramount is fair on that ground in terms of catalogs.

The same day, P is releasing the Sapphire Collection which appears to be Braveheart, Forrest Gump, & Gladiator. Ping a ding ding. Set your expectations for this at Low.

Just gotta wait for Shane next year.

Currently only mentions 3 discs. IF we are talking more than 3 movies this wouldn't be a collection to buy.

Could only be a coincidence, but there has been a price drop on True Grit that might signal it being in this pack. Sometimes it seems that retailer trends predict that sort of thing.

Amazon lists the actors as Henry Fonda & John Wayne, so I'll bet OUATITW is one of them - Fonda didn't star in many Westerns, even less in Paramount Westerns. And the AMZ listing also says 3 discs. Maybe True Grit (1969), but I think they'd leave that a single release for folks to pick it up with the remake. And not Hondo as that was just released in June. So I'll go with Big Jake & Rio Lobo, I doubt if either were big sellers as standalones. And the last two films you listed really wouldn't belong in a 'Classic Western' Collection, those are more Native American Westerns as opposed to "Classic" Westerns.

Rio Lobo is the only John Wayne Western released on BD that I don't own - don't care for it - it's a really poor movie made by Howard Hanks when he was past his prime (it was his last film), and John Wayne was just cranking them out.
