When you say "in the end everyone loses money"... The musician isn't losing money unless they allowed the studio to release without paying them. That's the point... the musician who owns the song he/she wrote trying to get paid for the additional use. That's why I put all the blame up front on the studio producing the show. There's simply no reason in today's market to produce and air a TV show that you haven't secured rights for other distribution like home video for any included music. IF you don't secure those rights, don't use the song in the show in the first place... then you don't have any musician to re-negotiate with later. Easy peasy. Quote:
