In terms of 3D, I found KFP2 and PIB to be the most effective (though HTTYD wasn't far behind).

Cars 2 was an a** of a movie, so don't bother with that at all.

Tie between HTTYD and KFP2 in terms of movie quality.

HTTYD is your best bet.

I haven't seen Cars 2, but based on reviews, I'd guess it's better than some of the 3D titles in your collection in both 3D and story - but the Dreamworks titles are all rated higher anyways.

HTTYD has the best audio of the 3 IMO if that has any factor in your decision. 3d is excellent as well. Awesome movie. Get HTTYD

My opinion is HTTYD>KFP2>Cars2.

I love the KFP movies and the 3D was pretty spectacular but overall, I think the story of HTTYD is better. After watching HTTYD in 3D, I could never watch it in 2D again. It blew me away. The water looked so freakin' real. It also has a rather awesome soundtrack!

Out of your list I would rank KFP2 at the top, the 3D is particularly awesome in it and it's a fun all-around movie. But if you didn't like KFP then you probably won't like KFP2 either, it's the same characters and similar theme. I'd have to go with HTTYD next. For me it's a tough call between PiB and Cars 2 after that, I enjoyed them both equally although they are quite different from each other. My standard answer would be "don't choose, get them all" but you've gotta do what you've gotta do

I own them all currently, but for my tastes I'd rank them:
HTTYD (story and entertaining 3D)
KFP2 (it was solid on all fronts)
PiB (wildly forgettable, but entirely inoffensive in it's general mediocrity)

Cars 2. I own it because I have nephews.

I agree. The story was ok and had a lot of funny moments and the 3D had good depth with a few pop out effects. I would definetly recommend this and is up there with one of the best animations I have on 3D.

Default 3D Theatrical/Bluray Previews Review Thread

Hello. I decided to start this thread so people could write-up short reviews for upcoming 3D movie previews they've seen with other movies in theaters or on bluray 3D.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3D, seen with The Pirates! Band Of Misfits 3D: Good depth, a real sense of adrenaline as Spidey swings from high building to high building above New York. Pop-out is very minimal, though Spiderman does occasionally swing towards the camera.

Default I need opinions on these 4 movies

Forgive me, I know there's separate pages and ultimately reviews, but I was hoping for some opinions on these 4 releases. You see, on my Christmas list is the Playstation 3D monitor, and in case I do get it, I will obviously want to start nabbing some 3D blus, preferably ones FILMED in 3d. But I'm making some exceptions for some converted and I was wondering about the quality of these ones.

Captain America: The First Avenger (I own the 2D but willing to double dip)
Thor (I own the 2D but willing to double dip)
Green Lantern (I own the 2D but willing to double dip)
John Carter

Captain Amaerica gets a 8/10 from me. It's an amazing 3D title but Thor isn't that great. The credits look amazing though.
Don't even think aboutGreen Lantern.
I haven't watched John Carter.

My opinions...and these are of course "MY" opinions only...this is where requests like this can get messy as everyone WILL have a different opinion....

The first thing I will say is dont expect "In your face pop-out" moments from any of these movies, all of these movies do have their merits but here goes my thoughts.....

Captain America - Brilliant 3d depth, very moody colours - kinda feels like it was filmed in the intended era 40's-50's. I actually wasnt overly impressed with the movie/story first time around...but really enjoyed it the second time...

Thor - Kinda the opposite to Captain America....I liked the story, but found the 3d somewhat lacking in some areas of the movie - still its a great movie all up

Green Lantern - Funnily enough its a mixture of both of the above....some good 3d moments in a rather run of the mill movie...still worth a watch in 3d though

John Carter - I cant comment on this title yet...I havent seen it yet, I've got it on pre-order

I would possibly say that for the first three titles, you pretty much have them in the order that I would suggest you purchase them in (best 3d - average) but all are worth a watch....like I said other peoples opinions will differ (from the sounds 3D varies so much from each persons perspective and 3D setup)

No too sure if this post helps you at all....(just get em all!)
Chris

I have not seen John Carter, but I can say that none of the others are any good in 3D. Don't waste your money.

Can't comment on Green Lantern, but I can give you my opinion on the rest. Since you own Thor and Cap, I'm not gonna dig into the movie itself with them.

Captain America - I think this is worth the double dip, but definitely not for full retail price. It's not the best 3D I have ever seen, but for a conversion, it definitely gets the job done. It adds a little spice to the movie that makes it a bit more fun to watch, especially depending on the scene but, like I said, it is an converted one so the 3D isn't very strong and not always consistent.

Thor - Definitely not. Sure, the 3D adds a very minimal amount of dimensionality to the picture, but overall it really isn't worth buying again in 3D for no more than you're gaining.

John Carter - For a converted movie, this is one is outstanding, especially once the film transitions to Barsoom (Mars). The 3D adds a natural depth and the layers between the objects are strong. It really gives you more of a feeling to what the planet is like, especially since the depth shows how far the dry land areas stretch back, etc. The story itself, well, it's a pretty simple and straight-forward one. Not much side tracking or anything that's though provoking. It's simply a fun, entertaining movie. Though some aspects of the story felt like it could have been explored more, it doesn't hinder the experience. The added bits of comedy never seems to forced into it, either, which is a problem I find with many action movies.

I hope my opinion, along with others on this forum, helps you make a decision on what to get.

I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss ALL conversions..The tech is getting really good and will get to the point where people wont be able to tell very soon. Witness Immortals 3D for an example of this.

Or even better Wrath of Titans ! 3d better than some native 3d!

But 3d in JC virtually transports you to the alien planet!
