No, it's that the annual late-June Pixar didn't deliver this year--and there was no Big-Studio Michael Bay Blockbuster till after July 4--so the Frat Pack comedy looked around, and said, "Hey guys, check it out, the coast is clear! Where'd everybody go?"

(The ads promoting Seth McFarlane as "Family Guy: the Movie" didn't keep the cult-zombies away from an opening-weekend pilgrimage of "duty", either...Not exactly the stuff of which second weeks are made.)

Umm.... Brave is right in the middle of the pack for Pixar when it comes to 10-day totals.

Pretty much...It isn't behind at all.

As for Ted and Magic Mike, congrats to them. Seriously. I like when R rated movies win weekends, because it might help Hollywood overcome their fear of releasing films that aren't PG-13 and under. This year we've had Safe, 21 Jump Street, Prometheus, Magic Mike, and Ted alone that have done very well considering they have R ratings. Makes me very happy.

We need more weekends like the end of August 2009 where the Top 4 was Rated-R.

But it is the first one to sink to 3rd in its second week with no crushing competition--Even, yes, even Cars 2 didn't do that, and that one had TF3 against it.
(Brave was beaten by Magic Mike?? Somethin's wrong...)

Me, I've got nothing against Brave, or even against Cars 2--
Just saying, there's a big empty void this year in the reserved spot where "Record Toy Story 3-like summer Pixar word-of-mouth audience-loyalty mania" SHOULD be--And like water, the second place Manchild Frat Comedy With "Big Daddy" Posters Where They Pee Against Walls, which would normally be second until the blockbuster opened, filled in that hole.
And yeah, I might catch Spider-man next week if the 3-D's good. At least the hair-trigger attention-deficit Family Guy zombies won't be all shuffling in big lines into THAT one.
