I don't think that's fair. I did provide a link to the BBC archive website for further information. Here it is again in case you missed it:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/archive/tv_archive.shtml

There are four million programmes in the BBC archive. I just think it would be more constructive to focus on that in terms of potential BFI releases, that's all.

I honestly can't see what you are arguing about. It is a fact that the BBC willfully destroyed many of the only copies of it programs. It did this because it cost money to store them, as well as to reuse videotape, again, to cut costs.

You keep linking to the tv archive site, which attempts to whitewash these facts, but does not deny them. I gave you a link too, did you read it? It was pretty short and to the point.

So yes, to tell people on a message something that is just not true is misinformation. That is completely fair. In fact, misinformation is the nicest way I can think to frame it.

I think I'll leave it at that, since nothing is to be gained going back and forth. Enjoy the last word. Hopefully, you'll link to that website again.

I do hope I'm not being argumentative - I certainly don't mean to be. The BFI are able to release Ghost Stories because they were preserved by the BBC archive. I'm happy about this and am looking forward to the release. I'm sure you are too!

BFI really outdid themselves with their blu ray release of that much under-appeciated piece of arthouse cinematic fantastica we know as Revolution, thank you BFI from the very bottom of my heart Stevie Wonder style.

When I asked ages ago, I was told The Innocents, The Edge Of The World and A Zed and Two Noughts weren't getting Dual Format releases. All the other ones that have come out and these ones due soon were confirmed

Does anyone know if there are any more Adelphi titles to be released and what is happening with the Tati blu-rays. We only had two, and I was expecting Jour De Fete and Mon Oncle. I know Parade will not be getting a blu-ray release

When are those quaint little transport films going to be released on blu-ray ?

Frankly who gives a damn about dual format. An absolute travesty.

Yes, I was hoping for some more Tati as well.

Why not Parade, though?

Why?

They cost the same if not cheaper than a single blu ray releases.
You're also getting a back up copy of the release.

There's absolutely no negative thing about them, I'm sure the likes of BFI and EUREKA! are saving abit of cash with releasing dual formats.

I teach film, and am often in a scenario whereby I'm not afforded the luxury of a Blu-ray player in class. Dual-format sets are a lifesaver in this respect.

I watched A Woman Under the Influence at around 1am and it was such a rollercoaster ride.

Acting was utterly mesmerising, I am a massive Peter Falk fan and it was a real treat to see him at his finest (along with Wings of Desire). The subject matter was very heavy and probably doesn't lend itself to being watched repeatedly, but I am quite happy to say it will have a place in my collection.

First time I watched Woman under the influence, it so overwhelm me emotionnally I had to stop about halfway through. It was just too much for me. I resumed the rest of the movie the next day.

BD players surely aren't that much more expensive these days.

Of course they're not, but I teach in a number of different places and can't always be certain that they'll actually even have a DVD player, let alone a Blu-ray player to hand. At least with a DVD I can always be certain that I'll be able to play it on my laptop if the worst comes to the worst.

The re-cut version is available on the Blu-ray and the DVD includes the long version amongst the special features.
