Maybe we should do what Blurays are better then their DVD's haha.

I love the Star Wars packaging on bluray. Also really like Dragon Tattoo and Social Network on bluray, although their DVD's might have similar packaging.

I do get annoyed when I see flicks like The Kings Speech released with a Slip Cover with the DVD, and not for the Blu-ray!! And there was alot more American title DVD's given the Steelbook treatment than Blu's!!

The blu-rays look too modern and dismiss the original art.

At least companies like Kino keep the original art with their upgrades.

At their sales peak, DVDs were a massive business and the studios thought they had to compete to gain the customers' attention on crowded shelves. The decline in cool packaging for Blu-ray reflects the large-scale downsizing in the home video departments as the video market shrank.

The Fight Club DVD set is still one of the coolest packages ever, with the hilarious quotes from negative reviews.

Circuit City Dark Knight was better than any of the Blu Ray ones.

And to the person who said LotR EE, you are so right. Out of all my special DVD's that is my favorite especially cause of the texture.

Memento the collector's edition was the best dvd package ever. Seriously. So awesome, the menu's being like a secret game, and packaged like a doctor's folders with sticky notes saying watch this film.

The Dawn of the Dead 3 cut collector's edition is another.

Also The Evil Dead collector's edition 3 disc is good because it's huge, thick and comes with a poster.

Seven, 2 disc edition is amazing as well.

Yeah, there are a ton of these. Especially The Lord of the Rings dvds look way better than the boring blu ray.

It has all of the bonus features too. Such good stuff. I may buy it solely for that.

Yeah, I was gonna mention the Tombstone, and also Sixth Sense, which was a smoky gold foil on black digipack, with great mysterious images. I couldn't even sell it on eBay a year or two ago, so I'm keepin' it!

Vistas were great.

If every studio/manufacturer would simply adopt the method of using the same cases criterion used, all would be good imo.
+1!
