Lots of movies never made it to a regular DVD release. Some however made it to MOD (manufactured on demand) from major companies such as Warner Archive Collection.
Have any Blu-rays started to be done as such? |

AFAIK - none.
But i think it's just a matter of time when will units-such us WAC-start producing MOD Blu-rays. |

I also agree that it will probably be a matter of time, but I wouldn't expect it within the next two years as the studios that actually care about blu-catalog are still releasing A-list titles. When they get down the B-list titles they might go this route, but I can only imagine the pricing...

Obviously it's gonna cost more per unit doing it this way, but at least it's a legit way to get obscure titles that the studios have no interest in doing a wide release for. I'd rather have an MOD option from a studio than simply have the title not be available at all, even if it's a few more bucks. |

I don't think they are literally produced one at a time (at least not the majority). I imagine the more popular titles are created in small batch runs. Anyway since it is no doubt all done via electronic commands into a machine the extra effort must be minimal.

But the movie on demand thing is DVD-R, right?
I really don't know I'm just asking. That assumption of mine is the reason the "pressed on demand" thing is not very interesting. It's practically a bootleg copy. So the "Twilight Time" model is at least *ALOT* better then that with an actual pressed disc and artwork (albeit still barebones content). |

The picture quality on the WB Archive DVD-R's that I have is very good. They claim that their DVD-R's are somehow a much higher quality than the ordinary person's DVD-R.... |

I've only purchased a few but I havn't been disappointed by any of them. I was actually shocked when I realized that the discs used for "Awkward Season 1" are dual-layered DVDs, not just single layers...
