Right there with you on Lebowski and Pulp Fiction. Death Proof was a different animal for me, though. The first time I didn't really mind all the endless bar-scenes of obnoxious characters sitting around yammering, since my expectation was that characters were being established for the rest of the film. The second time I could barely tolerate all that again.

I didn't hate any of these films when I first saw them, but my reaction was along the lines of 'That's it?' However, re-watching them made me appreciate them much, much more.

American Beauty
A Clockwork Orange
Donnie Darko
Psycho
Shallow Grave
Taxi Driver

It's interesting that you list this. I watched this for the first time not long ago and was disappointed by it. I wonder if I'd like it a lot more if I saw it again.

Had totally wrong expectations the first time. Expected something crazy like TCM. But it really IS a great movie the second time around.

I think Clockwork Orange needs to be watched more than twice or even three times to really pickup many things. There is so much to get out of the story that one or two viewings just won't do. It is one of my favorite film btw. Same with Donnie Darko. More than one viewing.

Nice avatar btw. I admit that I am more of a New Order fan though.

Rushmore...it was my first Wes Anderson experience and I think I was just not prepared for his style of film. Now I love all his movies...haven't seen Moonrise Kingdom yet though.
