For those who don't want to weed through all of writer/director Michael J. Bassett's old blog posts, here's what he's had to say so far on 3D:
First and foremost, though everyone knows this by now, here's what he had to say on November 22nd, 2010 to a fan who asked about post-conversion: Quote:
In a comment to a concerned fan on November 29th, 2010 - during pre-production - he said: Quote:

On July 21st, 2011, he answered a question about the cameras they used: Quote:

So from the sound of it, it seems like he wasn't so hot on 3D in the beginning but warmed up to it during filming (even though the cameras apparently sucked to work with). Probably nothing Journey-ish, but really, that over-the-top theme park approach seems very wrong for Silent Hill. At the very least he said 3D was "fascinating" and that there will be some pop-out, and he obviously seems proud of his work. In related news, rumor has it the presentation at Comic-Con will include a screening of some finished 3D footage from the film. Last edited by UFAlien; 07-10-2012 at 10:25 AM. |

Nice UFAlien, thanks for taking the time to snippet his blog. Interesting to watch his outlook on the format change as he realized in the driver's seat, he's holding the wheel and nobody else.
I've heard the same about Comic Con, supposedly a big secret but definitely a circulating rumor at this time. If I was anywhere near San Diego I'd storm it ![]() |

![]() I'll trade grain for a crystal clear digital 3D picture - I just played through the Silent Hill Downpour game on XB360, the latest game of the series, and this, even Silent Hill Homecoming was not as grainy as the earlier versions, the better the system the better the definition but let me tell you, the textures of SHDP were absolutely amazing, HD, the atmosphere was perfect and being able to see the little subtle details brought a new level of creepiness. Nothing yet for me to nitpick about, I'm still at 100% amperage lol. |

They still need to post the 3D trailer. They just have the HD one.
SILENT HILL 3D trailer plays before Dredd 3D. Finally got to see Silent Hill 3D's trailer and I can say the 3D is strong and looking really great. Can't wait to see this movie, good trailer too. The girl with the short blonde hair reminds me of the female hero from Silent Hill 3. Rahda Mitchell is missing in action for the sequel. She's not in the cardboard artwork poster credits either. Thankfully Sean Bean returns, a great actor. October 26th, 2012. ![]() EDIT: Silent Hill Downpour 3D PS3 Game: Under 20 bucks new online. Finally got this game and it's pretty good so far. The 3D is good at the highest setting, not strong (like the awesome 3D in the limited demo of Tekken Tag 2, of the Tekken Hybrid 3D game with 3D movie), but the only thing is, even though it's better than the weak 3D in Batman Arkham City 3D, it still has the same weird "Halo" effect around the main character's body, where you can see a very fine outline of the double separation. It's not a big deal, but noticeable. The game is pretty open, though the path ahead is linear for the progress. Nice behind the shoulder camera angle. Great Silent Hill atmosphere.
