Well just like every other release, the price goes up and down until release day. Even if it's $80 tomorrow, it can still drop to $60 by then. And I'm pretty sure they don't usually price match pre-order prices the month before, especially not with Fox Connect.

I will get this when it's about $66, even though I really want it.

Is that going to be considered a bargain price for this box or will it likely be available for lower than that during the holiday sales?

I know that I want this, but I'm not a student of old films and I'd be getting this to see more Marilyn pictures and get a bit of an education about her acting, as I've really only seen Some Like it Hot from beginning to end more than once.

Thus, I'm really looking to only get this when I think it's truly a bargain. $66 seems high only when you consider how low sets often go during the black Friday through Christmas sales Amazon and BB usually do. Am I wrong in thinking this will be around $40-$45 around then, even for a day?

Thanks.

Hard to say how low it will go. Especially if you plan to wait for Black Friday sales.

However $58.49 is only $8.36 a movie.

Seven Year Itch preorder on walmart.com is $8.86 Amazon are you listening?

I love Marilyn though, so I'm keeping my price tracker on the box set for sure

Default Individual Covers

Ok, why hasn't anyone else discussed the absolutely atrocious art on the individual releases (Misfits and SLIH aside)? From the artificial coloring to the overtly processed likenesses to the incredibly obvious use of poor photoshop... Look at River of No Return! One of my hands down favorite MM movies... But she looks like she is in pain on that cover! Whose legs bend that way?! Honestly, it looks cheap. I would rather pay the full price for the box set just to avoid having to look at the individual artwork. At least from the photos we've seen, the box set is so pretty!

I know what you mean I wish they would do really cool artwork like they were doing for the Cinema Classics Collection some examples... and in awesome slipboxes! (Only title I think I've seen by FOX for a BLU release was used for Stars and Stripes Forever - Same style as WB releases for The Big Bang Theory on blu.

I've mentioned this before, I'm a fan of Marilyn's but I'm pretty ignorant regarding a lot of her films other than Some Like It Hot.

I've read a lot of comments that this collection is not complete. Did Marilyn have many other films that aren't in this collection?

Will it be likely (speculation is welcome, of course) that there will be a part two of this collection with the rest of her films?

Thanks.

Yeah Previously FOX has issued her films in 2 different DVD Volume sets.
VOL 1
20.jpg
Vol 2
21.jpg

then they did a later set that just pulled some films from both sets ...

The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Niagra, River Of No Return, Let's Make Love, and the Biography Marilyn: The Final Days.

I would assume if the first Volume sells well they will release the second volume of her other films later on.

So is it likely or very likely that we'll get those on blu at a later date? I've only heard of the first 3, but I would think her fans would be very upset if they didn't get those on bd.

I only seek to clarify because just because a dvd set came in 2 volumes doesn't seem to guarantee much in today's world of blu, where decisions that get made often seem to defy logic.

For sure, we don't know if FOX will do a second volume but I think they would just time will tell. I wouldn't be surprised if they wait a full year for more Marilyn but who knows. Would be nice if they could strike a deal with WB to issue the Prince and the Showgirl to BLU in a Second volume set. WB sometimes swaps titles with other studios in sets.

That's probably the best price we'll see for a while. And whenever I've ordered preorders from Fox they've shipped early. I had a $20 code for Best Buy and I know there's that $10 gift card thing going on when you buy $50 or more...but it seems like a waste to use it when their price is $89.99

My only concern is if I need to make an exchange... I really dont want there to be a hassle dealing with FOXConnect. Otherwise, thats a great price.

Yeah, I've always had great service from FoxConnect and I went ahead and pre-ordered Forever Marilyn from them, $58.49 with the 10% coupon. The coupons are easy to get, if you've already got one just give them a different email address and make a new account to use it.

There are so many box sets coming out this year that I figure most of them will drop in price relatively quickly in order to compete. So I think I'll wait this one out.

Well, not many box sets with 7 different films featuring America's best known Hollywood icon in them. I'd be shocked if this drops below $50.

It will drop below $50 at least for one day this year. Marilyn's ghost told me and we got out of the shower.

Looks like Ill be going with the individual titles even though it will cost me about $20 more. I just like the look of each title separately over the boxed set that looks rather bland unfortunately. Very excited for these to be coming out, but they should/could have done much better in the box set and even added something only available to it. I also believe there will be other Monroe movies coming to BD and who knows if they put out another box set or if they even put out another one that combines some of the new ones with some of the old ones.

So much uncertainty means individual titles for me. From Fox Connect with the 10% coupon its a hair under $70 shipped for 5 of them, Ill get Seven Year Itch from Walmart for the $8.86 price, and I already have Some Like It Hot. So Under $80 for 6 more Marilyn movies is ok in my book.

The individual covers are almost drool worthy but I can showcase the classier design of the boxed set
