As I am holding off on some of these (i.e. DVD box set)
I don't know that much about the technical side of changing to bluray but I am looking at a PBS series from 1982 was very popular "Brideshead Revisted" and this copy is really poor... When the original film is not restored, the bluray is a waste. So this show originates from BBC & thought the copy would be allot better, this is more than 10 hours of movie and a great story but it was ruined with this bluray. The VHS tape was better! So TV has to have the money and the will to make it go bluray

Cheers,
Tony(NYC )

When is the Seinfeld series coming out on BR? I want to get the complete series coffee table book that they have but it's not in BR and its like $180. I don't want to get this and then 2 months later they come out with a BR version of the exact same thing.

Also do you think they will ever come out with The Drew Carey Show on BR or DVD for that matter. I've only seen the first seen on DVD and there is a 6 episode compilation but that's it. Why didn't they ever come out with the entire series? It was one of my favorite shows growing up.

Ghostbusters 2 HD got taken off of Netflix streaming...that movie has been a staple of the commercials since its launch. Sony/Columbia must've asked them to remove it because of an upcoming project?

I hope that the first three Indiana Jones movies come out on BD sometime soon, and the second Men in Black movie as well. I bet they will be released to BD when Indiana Jones 5 is released to theaters or when its released to BD, and when Men in Black 3 is released to theaters or when its released to BD.

I will echo this. I've been wanting to re-watch Seinfeld for the longest time, but I just wouldn't feel right getting it on DVD.

Also, does anyone know if there will be an Evil Dead trilogy box set/collector's set?

There can't be one in the U.S., different companies have rights to each film...plus they were all made by different studios too.

Question DVDs to ever be released on BR (and some further questions)

*warning: lengthy post*

Hi all,
I'm confused by some DVD to BR comparisons here.
Creepshow (1982) is on BR, but doesn't contain the 5.1 SS track or commentary that you can find on the region 2 release. Can someone explain why this happens?
Fright Night 1 (1985) has many dubs and countless subtitles on the region 2 disc... again, why not on the BR?
A Nightmare On Elm Street 1 (1984) ... this is something that *really* bothers me. The HD version is essentially the same as the 2006 re-release by Infinifilm. However, there are so many video and audio issues with that re-release that I can't even begin to explain. The *original* DVD release was excellent and truly faithful to the theatrical release of the film. Unfortunately, I'll be forced to watch (and hear) the poor re-release instead.
Black Christmas (1974) is on BR, but it already looked horrific on DVD, let alone in HD. Wouldn't some consumers be annoyed by this?
I was blown away to see that Tales From The Crypt (1972) is on BR. However, from what I've read, it's a bit lackluster in some ways. Now here is where my audio mixing side shows up... aren't BR releases supposed to be superior to the DVD releases, at least somewhat? If so, why doesn't the BR contain (at least) a Stereo mix? I mean really, get with the times.
Finally, if I may, can I list some DVDs I have that aren't on BR but I really wish they were? ... (asterisks denote ones that I REALLY wish were on BR)
-
April Fool's Day (1986) *
It (1990) *
Lean On Me (1989)
The Day After (1983)
The Gate 1 (1987)
The Good Son (1993)
The Money Pit (1986) *
Trilogy Of Terror 1 (1975)
When A Stranger Calls (1979) *
-
Is it okay to contact the original studio and suggest a BR release that's not yet available? I know they probably disregard such emails but you never know...?
- Justin

USA X-Files season on blu?

Fringe is kind of a rip-off of X files even though fringe deals with parallel universes. Fringe is already out on Blu, but is X-Flies ever coming on blu?

^ They would probably need to remaster it on HD. Since it was finished on video I believe (shot in HD though, minus effects). Same goes for 24 (season 1-6), Simpsons (season 1-12 I believe), Futurama (volume 1-4), and any other show since the 1980s.

I understand that back in the day it was expensive to shoot and edit on film, which is probably why these shows haven't been released on Blu-ray yet. That's no reason not to do a remaster of the film negatives, special effects, etc. High definition is the future. All these shows must be brought up to current HD standards providing they have the original film negatives. Probably keep them locked in a vault for safe keeping.

Post Help! When will these movies be in blu ray, please

I didn't find these animated movies that I (and many people) really love to see in High Definition 1080p. I would really like to take in consideration to put this animated movies in Blu Ray version, which are: The Swan Princess (1994), Balto (1995), Quest for Camelot (1998), Little Longnose (2003), The Princess and the Pea (2002), The Scarecrow (2000). All these movies mentioned, I really hope you could transform these movies into HD 1080p. That would be really awesome. Here are the DVD covers from those mentioned animated films.

Ps. It would be cool to also transform DreamWorks ANimation hand drawn films into HD Blu ray, such as: The Prince of Egypt, Joseph: King of Dreams, Spirit, The Road to El Dorado and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.

I really hope you could answer me this letter, I would really like to know your opinion.
Sincerely, Isabela
