Wow, that's good news! Maybe the U.S. will get this, too. It says Universal so maybe they have the rights there. North by Northwest not included? I wonder why?

Thanks for the heads up! I may just have to order this. $42 USD per title? That's an outrage!

Warner has these titles in most countries, but Sweden? Maybe not. After more searching I found the listing on several websites for pre-order, but they're all in the 160 euro range. This has got to come down or no one will buy it. The 3 extra titles are not in the 'most wanted' category, and I'm not sure if Dial M will have the 3-D edition. Of course I want all Hitchcock films on BD, but at that price I'll wait for another region to release it.

wow, looks like my post inspired absolutely nothing on the part of the OP.
awesome.
mikeyhitch--you do realize those films were directed by Hitckcock and are in 1080p on the blu-ray?

Yes, of course. I have the BD. They are short films and in French for the war effort and don't really belong in the feature films list IMO. I also have all 20 episodes that he directed for TV (not in HD) but don't include them for the same reason. But for the sake of completeness I have added them to the list.

There's also a German version of Murder called Mary, and sound and silent versions of Blackmail. These are feature films he directed and are part of the 'collection'.

Unlike the TV episodes, Bon Voyage and Aventure Malgache are normally included with the rest of the Hitchcock 'canon'. They're certainly listed in the back of the Hitchcock/Truffaut

that's the thing--I had always seen them listed with all the rest of his films, but I had never actually bought a dvd that had them included so I didn't quite realize how short they actually were.

It appears to be the same Universal boxset that's coming out elsewhere. That description is just incorrectly copied from a earlier DVD boxset released by Warner Bros.

Hmmm...The WB box that has Strangers on a Train, Dial M For Murder and North by Northwest is listed as coming in France, Spain & U.K. This one has 3 more titles but no NBNW and is very expensive. I guess we'll have to wait to sort it out. I was going to update my list again to add Stage Fright, I Confess & The Wrong Man to the ever growing Hitch-on-blu-list. I still think WB will have a BD box eventually as there's money to be made there.

There's no need to wait for more details. It's the 14-disc Univrsal boxset. That description is just wromg.

No worries. I tried to update the thread title but I don't think I can now.

If they ever release the TV shows in HD I guess I'll list them, too. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see this although Universal still hasn't finished releasing the show on DVD yet. I bought a 5 DVD set from France that has just the 20 Hitchcock directed episodes if anyone is interested. It is Region B locked, though.

OK, good. Thanks for checking on this. It makes sense as I was Google searching the barcode and item # and it came up with the Universal set.

There are still 2 separate, different listings here, though. Swedish site. If the Universal set is one, what's the other one listed?

From the Criterion forum:

Quote:
Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your email. I'm glad you've enjoyed our recent Hitchcock
Blu-ray releases!

We license all of our films - even the ones that might be considered
public domain - directly from the original production companies or
their successors and representatives. By paying royalties to the
owners of the films, we can obtain access to the original and best
materials available and use those materials for our releases.

We'd love to have more Hitchcock films and I'm happy to say that we'll
be releasing THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH next year and it looks great.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, and thank you
for supporting Criterion.

Best,

Jon Mulvaney
That's the '34 Peter Lorre version, in case you're wondering.
