Ok chaps. So many people on here raving about the need to watch movies on blu-ray rather than DVD. Share with us the screen /room where you watch all your blu-rays!
I'll go first. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some Bollywood: Veer Zaara. Though everyone complains about this one it plays well on my calibrated screen. ![]() ![]() ![]() Om Shanti Om ![]() ![]() My Media Centre Setup: ![]() ![]() ![]() I have a dedicated home theatre which I've been developing over the years. Most big blu-rays are watched in here. To be honest, even movies like 3 idiots which as a transfer hasn't found much favour appeared crisp and vibrant. Defects in image are amplified on a bigger screen. I'm not expecting a conversation on here but just thought it'd be interesting to see the setups of others on here. Dedicated rooms, lounges, computer setups. Almost anything you watch your movies on. Screen shots of bollywood movies are a plus and i'd gladly share more! Over to you guys.. Where do you watch your blu-rays? |

Wow !!great setup but more than anything, Must say veer zaara really really looks great in that calibration !!
wont u agree anibap? is that was how u too ended up calibrating veer zaara which was discussed by you when its blu ray was released? Man I am dying to watch the whole film in its correct look...screw u yashraj for ruining the one of the top films in yrf library. |

I have an Arcam 350 amp powering a Monitor Audio RS 7.0 setup with a BK Monolith beast of an amp. The sound is amazing. However with certain films like DDLJ which were originally 2.0 the sound comes across a little forced and untidy. Ra-One was another very very disappointing movie on my system. Nasty sound and inconsistent colours. My reference blu-rays are the sony releases of K3G, Kal Ho Naa Ho and KKHH. Raajneeti was another stunning transfer. Even 3 idiots and Veer Zaara looked awesome despite the criticism offered about the transfers. |

Sorry dudes. I wasn't looking to show off my system but simply to see other setups. Been to the community area and can only see a few images. Not much there at all. Last edited by Jagdeep; 07-26-2012 at 06:31 PM. |

Nice setup Jagdeep. Can you post couple of pictures of your setup with lights on? I have similar setup with 12 feet wide screen but not really light controlled. Light from the ceiling hits back at screen..colouring the ceiling black is not an option. I noticed you have somethink black attached to the ceiling in third image from the top.

You are quite right. I have fitted to the ceiling some velvet panels which significantly reduce reflections. The velvet is jet black. I'm hoping to add some more panels in future though it's not anything pressing. The ceiling has now been painted with dulux bitter chocolate. The theatre is totally light controlled and is around 7metres deep by 7 metres wide. It seats 8 comfortably but i've had more in there too. I've also added acoustic panels to each of the side walls to reduce any slap echo. But hey, i'll show you more of mine if you show me some of yours.. home cinema pics that is! |

You've seen an opulent and awesome HT setup, now see the poor man's home theater:
Panasonic S-series 50" with Mordaunt-Short Avant 902i bookshelf speakers ![]() The gaming + HTPC housing the BD player, and a Norge Stereo (yes, Stereo) amplifier with Pioneer DVD player (and one of the few relatively recent Hindi movie soundtracks I find worth repeat hearing ![]() ![]() The Fall blu-ray Any visual glitches are courtesy my crappy 8-year old camera with no image stabilization whatsoever. I can assure you that the video looks fantastic on this amazing movie. ![]() Last Year at Marienbad B&W widescreen coolness. In the first image I inadvertently used the flash but I think it adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the image, don't you? ![]() ![]() |

Fun thread.
Here's my humble setup. Equipment spec in signature. All screenshots are projected images of Blu Ray movies, Star Wars HDTV, Baraka and few HD samples. Some pics are not straight as I didn't use a tripod. I do not have a fully dedicated Home cinema room now, but I am planning to build one after moving to a new place soon. I have also added a pair of shots showing the issue with Silsila BD and the RGB conversion I use for some of the problematic Bolly BDs having raised black level. Have fun. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Silsila - Black level issue as in BD on calibrated setting ![]() Silsila - same scene adjusted with RGB conversion on projector. ![]() |

![]() but should'nt the front speakers go to the corners of the room for a much better surround experience and to experience channel separation? Last edited by divyansh; 07-28-2012 at 04:59 AM. |
