I bought the 40 gig PS3 about a week ago mainly for use as a blu-ray player.

I have 5 discs and all of the movies seem to 'stutter' or 'jitter' in spots. The audio is not affected. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

btw I have a 42 inch Philips LCD using the PS3 hdmi cable. I have had a HDDVD player for 3 months and have never had this problem with that format, any help would be appreciated. Should I take the PS3 back and get a new one?

I would try to take the PS3 to another TV to see if it does it again or take the movies you are noticing the problem on and play them on a friends PS3. If you can say for sure it is the PS3 and not the movies or the TV, take it back and get a new one.

Default Sacd

Holy Snap,

I did not know that the PS3 plays SACDs. Can somebody confirm what version of the PS3 plays SACDs. I have the 60GB version. Also, where do I find these CDs.

Basically i want to hear what one of these sound like in my system. I missed the whole audio format war 8 years ago. To be honest, I did not know there was an Audio Format War about 8 years ago until recently.

The 20GB, 60GB and 80GB plays SACD. IF you want to listen to multichannel SACDs, you have to have a HDMI receiver with multichannel input.

For a cheap source with very limited catalog, subscribe to Yourmusic.com. You can get an SACD for US$6.99 or for 2-disc albums US$13.98. I got a lot of mine from there. It's REALLY worth listening to Eric Clapton and Elton John's classic albums in SACD.

Amazon sells some too but their choice are thinning. AcousticSounds.com is a great resource of SACDs and vinyls.

It was the PS3. I returned it for a new one, all is good.

I can now enjoy blu-ray goodness.
