I looked at the H2, but for the smaller roads around here it wouldn't have been a good option. I regret it now since they stopped making them. It's actually a very smooth ride and I'd have just had to make it work on the tight roads. Oh well, I like the one I have. Plus, I got to use it as "prop car" on a well known television series a few times so I did get something cool out of it.

My family and friends think I'm odd for not wanting a BMW like everyone else around here, but I really just do not like the looks of them. I've considered a few Audi models, but there's so few around here that they stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing to be honest.

Same I grew up on SUV's, but when we started getting loaners and I was allowed to take them out it honestly didn't bother me sitting down low, so I figured I'd give it a try.

And no your not odd some people have all kinds of reasons for buying cars, I know a guy in our neighborhood who makes 7 figures easy and drives a 2002 Subaru and loves it, another guy barely clears 6 and stretches to afford a Bentley lease. Other friends will only buy American (corvettes mostly), so its no biggie

When I lived outside of my little world I found the same thing, I'd lucky if I saw a 328 (their base model I don't think the 1 series was out) once a week, where here you can't go five miles without seeing bmw, mercedes, lexus, exc.

That's the beauty of a lease. Free maintenance and never out of warranty. And a brand new car every three years is pretty sweet too.

Only reason I don't lease is if I ever found myself in a position with a need to liquidate assets, or hold an assets due to financial strain. A paid of car is a positive in both situations, even if its depreciating.

It's great to drive a new car often, but I do a lot of driving so I would break the terms for exceeding the mileage allowed. Also I love having no car payments.

Nothing beats owning a car out-right. I've not had a car payment in years on my car. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for my wife's / family vehicle. Never NOT had a payment on those.

We've already resigned ourselves to the fact that we like cars too much and will most likely never pay one off. Between the two of us the longest we've owned a car is a hair over five years.

The lease is a new thing for us. In the past we used to drive too much and upping the lease to include as many miles as we'd need made it cheaper just to buy. Now that we're a bit older and have regular hours for work we barely go out during the week, and do a whole lot less driving in general. I'm pretty excited about it. And with BMW you get free maintenance, so I don't have to worry about anything except for gas and tires, and it'll never be out of warranty as long as I have it. The one thing that sucks is of we do find a car we absolutely love, buying a car after leasing it is usually a huge ripoff.

I'm still doing college and there is always a chance I'll get lazy, fail, and enjoy a job at bestbuy so buying makes sense now, but once I graduate and hopefully have a 100% stable job for a few years, I think I'll give leasing a shot. I do worry about returning the car dents dings scratches exc. of course going over milage (but again thats so easy to calculate out you should pretty much know what your getting into with that).

I do love driving (already put 700 miles on the car this week )

As long as any dings/scratches etc are less than 2 inches you're good. I usually park in the boonies so it's not much of a concern. But you do get your haters.

I have to ask, if you don't mind, how are you affording a 45k+ car as a college student?

Internship with a Dcontractor and very very good parental prosperity I'm proud of myself for not spending more actually, this will be my first Daily driver bmw where its been with me day in and day out, if it fails me I'll get an acura or lexus... Its insanely fun to drive the smaller cars, we've always had boats

I have a 99' Grand Am GT with over 130,000 miles on it and it is falling apart....hence why no pics are provided. But no car pmts for the last 7 years has sure allowed me to build my HT, so I can live with it.

I do have an 04' Harley (Dyna Wide Glide) that has been modified a bit and has lots of add'l bells and whistles....

On topic which I probably posted here some time ago. I drive a 2005 Acura TL with 167,000 miles. My car will be 7 years old in a week. I still can't believe how old she's going to be.

Like what John said above. No car payments is quite nice! I'm keeping my Ack till she falls apart. At this point right now, I think she'll get to 250k with no problems.

Never buy it a companion. The moment I got my 12 tC, the 7 tC, which has been a model car for 130k miles, seemed to start having sibling rivalry issues. The check engine light came on and the valve covers started leaking.

I just turned 100,000 KM (63,000 Miles) on my 2008 Nissan Sentra. Bought it as a demo in 2009 and have 19 months left on it. I'm going to keep it around for many more years after that.
