Don't get me wrong. I purchased the two separate trilogy sets but I had purchased the prequel trilogy set and the original trilogy set but only because I didn't like the way they had produced the packaging for the Complete Saga set.

I have the movies on Blu-ray but that I had purchased them a set at a time during the street date release but that I ended up purchasing them for around $40 for each set. Expensive, but Lucasfilm is always known as overpricing their releases.

I take it there is still no replacement program for A New Hope with the sound drop out issue?

I thought the sound drop out issue was due to how they encoded the soundtrack on the discs and it was your player or amp that needed upgrading? as I have never had any sound drops out with any of the films on my setup.

Also, for anyone that still doesn't have the BD's you can get them from Tesco Entertainment for the below prices...

Saga set for £46.13
Prequel Trilogy for £26.46
Original Trilogy for £24.67

If you use Quidco you can save another 8% on those prices.

Here's a thread at AVForums

It seems to be to do with the audio setup and copy protection from what I gather.

Had no problems myself.

Careful what you post, many on here are adamant these will not drop in price. You may be hunted down and shot.

...
Yeah, its hit and miss who it affects. Empire and Jedi are fine, but A New Hope has sound drops for a fraction of a second maybe every 5 minutes. Its always at the same point in the film every time too.

Yep, I have heard that firmware upgrades can solve it, however Sony haven't issued a firmware update for the BDP-360 in over a year and my Denon 1910 amp doesn't have any means of being updated by the user (no USB socket for updating etc). So i'm screwed.

Default Star Wars Blu-ray???

I have all of them on DVD and have having seen all films on upscale dvd via my blu-ray player, Is it worth upgrading to the blu-rays??

Been putting off buying it down to the cost.. Is the picture quality a big upgrade on the DVD's? Heard bad and good reviews..

Going by PQ/AQ alone. Yes, they're definitely worth it in my opinion.

Here's a few comparison shots, provided by zonadvd.com, to help you make up your own mind.

The difference when it comes to Episode 1 is night and day. The others, not so much. But there's still a good upgrade.

It's worth it, if you're a big enough fan and have the extra money for it. I also think the AQ is the bigger difference between the two.

Worth it just for the extras, let alone the PQ and AQ.

Definite buy.

But don't sell your DVD's because the Blu Ray's have completely different extra's - and a few new changes to the movies too.

Enjoy watching six new films, nothing really compares to the director constantly messing with his creation. He certainly doesn't listen to his fan base.

Lots of people are waiting for it to drop to £30 for the 6 films.

Same here, I just want the prequels though and not the new versions of the old films.

As long as you don't get too hung up on all the changes, "Star Wars" on BD is a must-have.

If you do get hung-up, it's still worthwhile for the quality.

The transfers of the original trilogy are struck from old masters. They arn't poor nor the best of what they could look like. The AQ is pretty good.

Revenge of the Sith, is reference meterial in both PQ and AQ.

Personally I like and look forward to the changes. They've been a constant part of my Star Wars fandom. It always fun watching the latest version for the first time to see what's been added to make the two trilogies work together.

+1. My opinion is, given the current circumstances, and new masters notwithstanding, the transfers of the OT are very good.
