Multiple devices with internet ports...

that'll work... you may need a x-over cable to connect or there may be a switch for the first port

You do NOT want another router... all you need is a switch. I have a gigabit switch in the living room to hook up the PS3 (which has 10/100/1000 capability), the DishDVR, the Toshiba upsampling DVD player, and the Gigabit enabled HTPC to the system in the next room... it works like a champ!

A gigabit switch should set you back about 20-25... the netgear one says it has smart sensing of whether or not you have a cross-over cable... it is kind of flakey, it would only connect at 10/100 till I put in a cross-over dongle.

Again, don't get a router, you don't need the added cost or features, a simple switch is good enough.

Unless your router has a gigabit port for the cable you are running from your bedroom to your equipment, you don't need a gigabit switch.

I don't think I have seen a router with gigabit capability, but you really don't need one, hell, even with fios, you are hard pressed to need that kind of bandwidth to connect outside your home network.

To get around this, I have a second gigabit switch in the bedroom, connecting the two PCs and NAs, with this switch connected to the livingroom over a cross over cable. This way all the devices are connected across a gigabit backbone, with a 10/100 connection from the bedroom switch to the router.
