Germany Cop Land - BD from 2012 with both theatrical and director's cut

In the forum info the disc specification suggests it would be only a 25Gb BD?

I believe it should be a BD50? And could somebody check if the theatrical cut is about 23,17 GB as the Scandinavian BD and if the director's cut is about 19,77 GB as the USA BD?

These file sizes of the main movie are just measured with plain Windows. I'd like to know if there are any differences in the both versions compared with the before mentioned countries releases since I own them, and as a big fan of the film, would love to own the best version available.

Actually I've yet to see the director's cut, or is it even really the directors or the studios vision? Either way, I've read that the director's cut have a absurd ending (read too happy) compared to the theatrical cut.

Hi

If you go onto IMDB.com and search for Copland differences between the cuts there is a link to another site (Moviecensorship.com) which fully describes and breaks down the scenes that are different/extended (all 17 minutes worth). Its mostly dialouge changes and from memory the endings are the same

From the link you described (SPOILER WARNING): " Unfortunately the DC misses a relatively long scene at the end of the movie: Freddy stands at the river which seperates Garrison from New York. He looks over to the city where he once wanted to work so much. His colleague errives and reports that a truck has overturned. When Freddy at first doesn´t reply, his colleague asks if he is alright. He hesitates briefly, but then says "yes" and gets in his car. They both leave and the end credits start to roll.*
96 Sec. in the DC"

You don't want to have the german Cop Land BD.
According to ofdb.de it is indeed a BD50, but if you compare the UD BD with the german BD:

This is the comparison

This should answer your questions if the video streams are identical.

BTW: You may not measure the Streams in GB in Windows easily, because don't forget that germany has normaly other language tracks that US or nordic releases...

OK - Thanks for the info regarding the movie ending... its been ages since i saw the theatrical cut on dvd. Wish they would release both versions in high definition in cases like this, as also for example with Tony Scott directed Revenge.

No that is the old Cine Plus Home Entertainment BD with only one cut. The new BD is from Studio Canal. But I think the theatrical is Studio Canal (as in many other EU countries) and the DC might also come from Lionsgate?

Okay, sorry. Now I want to know it myself.. I just ordered a copy of the StudioCanal Disc at amazon.de should be send tomorrow and I may pick it up from neighbors sunday... or monday..

I will report on quality and disc size.
If you have both other discs you are talking on, you may check them with the BDInfo tool regarding bytes for the movie streams.

I bought the French Studio Canal BD a few weeks ago. It's most likely the exact same disc as the German one. It contains both cuts (two separates encodes) on an almost full BD-50. Picture quality -of both cuts- is nearly identical to the Lionsgate version, i.e. very good. I posted the complete specs at AVSForums. Here's the summary:

Region B locked

Audio: German / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 2150 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit)
Audio: French / DTS-HD Master Audio / 5.1 / 48 kHz / 2308 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit)

Subtitle: French / 41,685 kbps
Subtitle: German / 3,970 kbps
Subtitle: French / 0,633 kbps

At that time I also took some screenshots for a French forum:

It's a great release and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Studio Canal offered both versions on the disc (something they didn't even advertise on the cover), and a few extras. BTW, judging by the captures, that Cine Plus Home Entertainment version is a disgrace to the blu-ray format !
