Well, it is a supplemental feature, one that many of us never thought we'd see included. Frankly, I'm overjoyed that I'll even have the opportunity to see this version again, period. Two years ago Halloween 2 fans were pining for a special edition that most of us didn't think would ever come. It was depressing, and more than a little pathetic.
Then, boom, we get a Universal release featuring a superb transfer and -- get this -- Terror in the Aisles. Barely a year later, we get what promises to be an even more impressive release, with an original poster art option, long lost TV cut, commentary tracks, etc. What's horrid about that? |

I pre-ordered on Amazon and it still says "Not Yet Shipped" and I placed my order on September 4th. Is this normal for Amazon? It hasn't even changed to "Shipping Soon". I clicked two day shipping so I'll get it on the release date. Should I start worrying yet? We're officially 4 days away shouldn't my status be different?

Ok, that makes me feel a little better lol. I checked my bank statement and no money is gone yet either so maybe that's the case for me too? I must admit I've only ever pre-ordered once in the past and that was last years Halloween II Blu-ray oddly enough lol

Of course Universal could have used a better print, but given some of their catalogue releases since blu-ray's birth, Halloween II is far better than history would have led us to believe it would be. For those of us who have attended revival screenings of older films in actual theatres, the problems with the Halloween II print were so minimal, so slight, that they were barely noticeable after the first five minutes or so. I've seen much, much worse. In any event, for this kid anyway, a few print flaws and "excessive" grain > artificially smoothed out image + EE. The latter is far more irritating. But no doubt people send angry emails to studios like Universal about the fact that they didn't pay thousands of dollars for the finest home theatre system to watch a grainy movie. Universal reacts, and (worst case scenario) we end up with plastic, Avatar-ed versions of classic films, most of which won't get a rerelease anytime soon (if ever). If they mess up Vertigo... ![]() |
