![]() BTW; if you have a Y adapter use both RCA inputs. You'll barely have to crank the volume to hear it then. Last edited by theJman; 08-31-2012 at 02:31 AM. |

No Goat1 your subwoofer is a powered subwoofer so you should only use the LFE connection only. If you had a passive subwoofer you would use Y connector because your Receiver would be powering the sub. You dont want your receiver to send any power to your sub. You want your receiver's power to handle the mids & highs. You dont want to waste the power on the sub it does not need it.

Powered Subwoofers To solve the problem of inadequate power or other related characteristics that may be lacking in a receiver or amplifier, Powered Subwoofers (also referred to as Active Subwoofers) are utilized. This type of subwoofer is a self-contained speaker/amplifier configuration in which the characteristics of the amplifier and subwoofer are optimally matched and are both encased in the same enclosure. As a side benefit, all a powered subwoofer needs is a single cable connection from a home theater receiver or surround sound preamp/processor line output (also referred to as a subwoofer preamp output). This arrangement takes a lot of the power load away from a receiver and allows the receiver's own amplifiers to power the mid-range and tweeter speakers more easily. This is the whole report. http://hometheater.about.com/od/loud...Subwoofers.htm Last edited by mreilly611; 08-31-2012 at 03:35 AM. |

Sorry I dont know the correct terminology but from what I have read you are taking away the effectiveness of your receiver by splitting the signal with a Y connector to your subs R/L connection. Your receiver's amp just needs to work much harder to drive the sub now. When it should not have to. What benefits do you get in splitting the LFE signal. I know you are just forcing your receivers amp to work harder and less effective in driving the mids & highs.
So I am just telling Goat not to run the Y connector. I dont see any benefits to it just some negatives. But I could be wrong. Last edited by mreilly611; 08-31-2012 at 05:09 AM. |

Okay threw some music at it the past few days, and i'll say i like it
![]() Turned on one of the local pop radio for my daughter, and i'll admit i was diggin' it... Couch shaking clean bass, but yet not boomy.... Listened to some of Zac Brown Band - Uncaged album, Blakroc - Coochie, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Lubriphonic, STS - Cloud of Endo, The Roots, Stephen Marley, Sevendust, Groundation, and some Pretty Lights.... The XV15 in my opinion sounds very good when playing music, better than i thought is would.... I knew going in that this sub would shine while watching movies, but i'm very impressed with its music capabilities ![]() ![]() At least to my ears.... |

After I got mine going last night,I was listening to music for a little bit and it was hitting tones none of my other subs were hitting. It fills the room and I can actually feel it pressurize it.. The only problem.. After running audyssey,it set my sub at +11 and I have the gain on the sub at about 3/4.. That's gotta be way off. I'll have to rerun audyssey when its quieter in the house,I think ambient noise messed it up..

We are going to add one note to the manual soon. Start with the subwoofer gain at the 1-2 o:clock position. Some new customers are used to their old sub having a lot of gain sensitivity in the first 1/3rd of the control knob rotation. Our amps are a bit more gradual.. ![]() |

Some knobs are more sensitive then others. I wouldn't worry about where the position of the knob is as long as it sounds good and isn't clipping at reference level. Splitting the lead that comes into the amp and plugging it into the L and R should make it more sensitive and responsive as posters above have explained.
