you can add Digitalhome.ca/forum to that list.

The only reason I still go there is for information on canadian deals and teleco/cableco questions.

Actually, I've been most taken aback by HDD. They have a mod there named Blurry.

avs forum is really more of a joke now then when dud was alive. now all the dud fanboys are acting like blu ray will die cause the dud owners wont go buy them and how dls are coming soon. even saying how the consumers dont want hd material. lol yet none were saying any of that when dud was still alive so it goes to show how ignorant they are.

To me the issue isn't that since we've won let's forget it. Winning now has nothing to do with forgetting forum governance that pushed a markedly pro-HD DVD agenda while proporting neutrality. Compromised integrity and dishonesty aren't "over" just because Blu-ray won the war.

I'd like to see some of those forums and leaders offer an apology, or at the very least, an explanation of why they pushed the HD DVD agenda that they did.

I suspect you'd feel differently if you were one of undoubtly many people who were swayed by those sites into investing in HD-DVD, and now find themselves having to at least shell out a second time on Blu equipment for new releases.

The point is, in case it's not obvious, that it can & will happen again. Already is on some sites. HD downloads, anyone?

Never happen. If anything the lockdown is getting worse in some instances. Now it's open season for sour grapes and pushing this "BD is doomed because digital downloads are coming baby!" agenda.

The only way anything meaningful ever happens is if enough sponsors of these forums have enough and yank their money. It hasn't happened yet, that I know of.

Certainly there are some people and certain forums that deserve to suffer real consequences. I just don't think any of us short of an insider status can make it happen.

I suppose people that Paid members and such at these forums could get a refund if they really have seen the things we're talking about and feel strongly enough about it. I always said: If you get a bunch of paid members to yank it and demand a refund it might begin to turn some heads.

The war is done and over. Move on. It's like in sports. You play hard and rough to win. When it's done you have a few beers after the game. What happened on the field stays on the field. After the game you shake hands and have a beer with your opponents.
..
We will be having HD DVd supporters coming to this sight looking for info or having curiosity about turning blue or purple. We should clean up the HD DVD bashes, quotes, sigs that demean HD-DVD. As winners in the war we should be gracious winners just like HD-DVD people should be gracious losers.

We won't win any of the HD-dvd people over by having them see some of these comments. Best way to get blu-ray to grow and succeed over DVD and downloads is to welcome all new blu-ray users , regardless of where they came from or what side they were on.

I think boycotts are necessary when websites are clearly receiving payola (ala gamespot and Gerstmann) for their opinions. What hd dvd websites have indications of such?

I can't think of any forum I've ever been too without some mod bias, it is inherent, after all, in being human to have opinions-otherwise the mods wouldn't be on the website in the first place. These guys are generally volunteer mods, so I think its problematic to hold them to vastly higher standards than we hold ourselves to. Extreme bias does lead to me deleting the website from my bookmarks, such as mentioned in this thread. However, places like AVS, I choose to ignore certain topics or subfora. Its much easier as a lurker.

Not with a select relative few who continue to deliberately try to lie and mislead others.

I won't do it. Ever. And I strongly believe that real consequences have been earned and should be doled out on said people and entities.

For the most part we will be. Past that? See my above comments.

But Toshiba won't apologize, nor Microsoft, nor Paramount.

They won't and certainly some of the more obvious viral markter types and certain forums and people running those forums will not apologize and, in fact, continue on down the road of deliberate lies.

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks those kinds of people and entities deserve free passes? Forget you.

I'm not reading AVS and other forums either, after all if they were excluding pro Blu-Ray material what OTHER material are the forums still excluding or exhibiting a bias against?

Once a forum loses the appearance of neutrality I find it very hard to read because I don't feel like I am seeing everything I should.

If I need AV forums, I'll post in the AV forums here (which seem pretty open) or seek other AV forums that did not allow such bias to sink in.

The best thing you can do is tell everyone to boycott those sites as well as Toshiba, Paramount and Universal. Don't visit the sites and don't ever buy their products again.

That's about it, although I fully intend to buy certain Paramount and Universal BD's of movies I want when the time comes...assuming the quality of video and audio is where I want it to be.

We'll see.
There are always a select few who are outside the norm. Most HD-dvd supporters are not like that, and those will be the ones who will be considering coming here to decide on if they want to go blu.

If you have a grudge against someone in particular who should not allow that to cloud your judgment against other HD-dvd supporters. when you start judging an entire group by a select few rotten apples then you start bordering on racism. Although I am not sure if being a HD-dvd hater would be considered be racist, but i'm sure you get the point.

Although i do agree with alot of the points you make, it's better to be nicer to others even if they are not.

A fair point.

Now here's the truly sad part: With few exceptions, most of my encounters with HD-DVD supporters have been negative.

Out of that mass, if I'm honest about it, there's a relative select few that I would really isolate as "these guys are out to deliberately lie and mislead others."

The problem is: You have so many more of these people that WANTED to believe the lies and then, intentionally or not, helped to spread it anyways.

It's an ugly mess. Certainly most of us aren't looking to start fights or start witch hunts.

AVrevforum is a disgrace. Not only did they ban me for providing irrefutable evidence that Lotus was nothing but an HD DVD shill, even after I provided their Admin Andrew with all my information, but they have also put an IP ban on my work address, despite being my very first ban.

Lotus' assertions that Warner were going HD DVD exclusive, that New Line would have some big HD DVD exclusive catalog announcements at CES, that Blu-ray yields were in the toilets and only Sony were doing BD50's, were all typical unsubstantiated HD DVD propaganda.

The site allowed him to continue and permanantly banned me, despite the fact that everything I said would happen has come to pass and nothing he said did.

The guy is an idiot and so is Andrew, their moderator/admin/editor/whateverthef*&k.

That site can hang its head in shame for being run in such a manner. In my opinion they are worse than AVS.

Personally, there is a least one site I will not be returning to anytime soon.
