The other thread was amazing information and allowed me to get this amazing speaker over my shit Sony Dream in a Box!
So let's get some 7.1 action going on! What are some great speakers that don't break the bank. Also a question if I have stands for my Sony speakers - can I use them for my new speakers?? |

You could get 3 pairs of these which would be US$990 ($330 each) - http://www.axiomaudio.com/m3ti_main.html
Then a center channel for US$255 - http://www.axiomaudio.com/vp100_main.html That's US$1245 altogether. Research the company on sites like the forums at audioholics - they make excellent speakers and they give you 30 days in home trial - if you don't like them (which will be impossible) you can send them back. Blu-ray.com member BrahmaBull has the speakers I've mentioned (bookshelves) for his fronts, so you can get a personal opinion on them from him. I've listened to the Dave and Tim Blu-ray Disc at his house on a TX-SR605 listening to the 24/96 TrueHD track and they are a very accurate speaker with really good separation and imaging. Alternately you could just get two pairs of the bookshelves and one center and spend US$915 and then get another pair for your 6th and 7th channels once you can afford them. If you don't have 2-3 feet room behind your main listening spots then there's not much point in going to 7.1 over 5.1 if you're getting good speakers, which these are. |

Nice receiver dude! You have very good taste in quality electronics
![]() In any case, now that you have the same receiver as me look into some Polk speakers for sure. Buying an entire 7.1 system of polk speakers can be quite expensive, if you can't afford it right at this momeny I STRONGLY suggest staying with 5.1 or even less for now and piecing your system together slowly. That way you can buy quality speakers that will keep you very happy for a very long time. This is what I did, (As you can see I only own 2 fronts at the moment. This is a MAJOR upgrade from a crappy set of 5.1 speakers which I had before). In any case check out the Polk Audio speakers especially the RTi series. They're kind of pricey (although they're actually priced much lower compared to similar quality speakers of other brands imo) but definitely worth it. |

Oh ya I forgot the most important part. Your best bet is to go to a "speaker" store and try to get them to demo speakers USING THE 805! That way you can hear for yourself which speakers you think compliment your system the best.
We can suggest speakers to you day in and day out, but in the end you have to pick something that sounds good to you. Some stores give out demo speakers for you to test in your own home. This is the best way to make sure you enjoy the sound with your setup. Take your time choosing your speakers and research everything. |

I'd also like to point out that I have Paradigms, but I do not think these would be in your best interests with a budget. My 5.1 speakers alone have cost me to date $5,000. Fronts were $1225, rears were $1225, center was $399 and subwoofer was $2200.
Hence I'm recommending Axiom because you eliminate the middle man which you cannot do with speakers like Paradigm, Klipsch, Polk, etc., where there are no internet direct dealers. 30 days is a long time to audition speakers. It's one thing to recommend what you own, it's another to recommend something to fit someone else's budget. Plus those bookshelves can handle 175 watts and have a frequency response down to 60Hz at +/- 3dB. You can't beat performance like that for $330/pair. The center handles 200 watts and extends down to 95Hz at +/- 3dB which is better response than my CC-370v4. Last edited by dobyblue; 02-21-2008 at 06:20 PM. |
