I posted this elsewhere but:

I would think to get the most out of releasing Transformers they would actually have to advertise it. The best date would be April 22 not up against anything and its 2 weeks before Iron Man and 4 before the new Indy movie. They could tie those into the advertisement like: Buy TF on BD and get a sneak peak of Star Trek, Iron Man and Indiana Jones, and for the first time ever a teaser for Transformers 2.
Now those sneak peaks could just be trailers but it advertises their major major movies as not just promoting something that due to it already been released has the possibility of not selling more in its first week then the HDDVD version. Then again its also possible people that bought the DVD will buy it anyway and could actually have the biggest first week ever who knows.

It pobably will not happen that way but I think thats the only way to get the most sales from it.

It will come out on Blu Ray, Paramount finally switched. I have no idea the ETA on the disk though.
