we live in a world where not everyone has the same taste in music/movies etc.

Celine Dion has a huge fanbase. The SD-DVD version sold 10m copies.

Also a lot of Celine male fans are gay. I can't find the article i read this from, but gay men use/have more disposable income than straight men.
I dispose all my income on BDs. And I'm straight! There I've said it! Thats right folks Straight! Get used to it. "l don't think anyone bases the BD purchases on its sexual appeal. i've heard the BD is visually impressive."
Tell that to the porn industry. You have never seen Blu-ray? Wow.

Aha! I knew it! But I didn't say it because I didn't want to offend any people, but I'm truly thankful to you for solving my confusion

Your question was posted right after my post, was it directed at me?

There are several reasons why i bought it. It is supposed to have excellent video and AUDIO quality. Céline is technically an excellent singer, though most of what i've heard from her so far hurts my ears. I want to know, how a technically excellent recording of her sounds like. I was curious.

Then there is the thing, that i love music in general. I have a large vinyl collection and i hope we might see more highresolution music via Blu-ray, as SACD/DVD-A are dead (never bought into the formats though, there was no music on them i cared about enough to buy into the formats. Still all CD for me). So concert Blu-rays always have my interest.

And last but not least, i saw the sale for the disc on the day HD DVD really died for me. I am purple and i loved HD DVD for being region free, so i was indeed sad about HD DVD dying. The music of Céline is sometimes painful for me, so i thought it would be a good disc to buy on that day. It combines both the "joy" for Blu-ray winning and the "pain" of HD DVD dying and the disc will always remind of that day.

That's why i bought it and i am not kidding you here.

I meant it as no offense, I just couldn't understand why her concert blu-ray was selling well. As someone before me said, I'd understand if it was Led Zeppelin or such legendary band but a modern singer cracking the top ten on a format that is somewhat new was confusing to me.
Anyway, enjoy your music. No hard feelings I hope.

Np, i am not offended at all. It was a total impulse buy, like five minutes between seeing the offer and ordering the disc. I don´t even own any other Céline stuff...

I'm not a Celine fan, but she does have a good voice. However, I wanted to share a funny story with you guys. My GF got her car stolen (not the funny part), but luckily the cops recovered it with the car in perfect condition. Everything out of the car was stolen like my phone, camera, jacket. The one thing he didn't take was her Celine CD. He stole the rest, about 30 CDs including her mixed CDs, but Celine was just sitting in the cup holder. I guess he didn't like her much either.

Well, the whole Vegas show is a huge production first of all. It has changed Las Vegas entertainment. Second, a lot of people couldn't see the show so they probably bought it. And lastly, she has a huge fan base almost everywhere you go. Btw, the SD-DVD is at #1 this week..it has become the biggest selling music DVD in history.

Not sure if this matters to anyone else, but it looks like this Blu has been reprinted and is now in a standard case, as opposed to the cardboard fold out packaging it was in during the original printing. I, for one an SO happy about the new printing!
