Default Has anyone else seen this blog post by DVD Empire

It was made on March 14th and they talk about HD-DVD's lack of new titles and Blu-ray's recent dominance.

Great Post in the face of HD-DVD supporters, this is true and what i have been thinking of from a long time we have more supporters we have great titles released on the way and HD-DVD does not have them they have only UNIVERSAL to keep them alive if it can be them alive during 2007

BLU_RAY is going to completely dominant every terroritary world wide.

why i'm saying this there are many logical reasons to think of:

First PS3 are doing great as a blu-ray player and it is the least cost somone can rely on and trust it

second Exclusivity support from studio like SONY,FOX,Buena VISTA entertainment,LIONSGATE,and let me this true to be applicable for WARNER ,paramount and DREAMWORKS even they are NEUTRAL

whereas UNIVERSAL is HD_DVD and is loosing profit day after day

True. I wonder for how long they will continue to piss of their customers, the customers of Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Samsung, Sharp, Philips and many others hardware!

There, right now, is no profits to be made for either format, the amount of HD discs being sold is a fraction of DVDs sold, for example, the Departed sold 20,000 BR discs and 13,000 HD DVDs, while millions on DVD, it is costing studios more $$$ in making the discs then what they are getting back in selling them.

Even if what you are saying that no profit can be gained from HD ,why for example can you explain 20000 has been sold against 13000 of HD_DVD

this means one thing that blu-ray fans are more than HD-DVD fans

leads to a powerful assumption that Blu-ray has an advantage over HD-DVD even this specific title include PCM ,i bet warner if release now Batman in BD including PCM the sales of this single title will be about 300,000 or maybe more

let's wait and we will see and remind me later if you want once Casino Royale sales figure are released out. This is going to surprise all of us.

Now universal are gaining profit especially a big profit in 2006 but in 2007 this profit is going to be a totally LOSS in favour of HD-DVD

Agreed the numbers from The Departed are a very telling detail. HD-DVD hadn't really had any new releases so one can assume a majority of all HD people are going to buy this title, as to where Blu-ray had lots of releases and lots more coming. Yet given that they still outsold 20,000 to 13,000

Yes but people are still buying the Departed. There are only so many hd players out there, so at some point sales will dry up while Blu continues on due to larger player numbers.Lets see the numbers for the Departed after a couple months on both formats. My prediction is there will be much more than a 7,000 titles sold advantage in Blu-rays favor

There already is more than a 7,000 title sold advantage in Blu-ray's favor...much more. The charts are dropping sharply for The Departed on HD DVD (the amazon numbers via hdgamedb.com).

Well we just ordered it from Amazon today I really wanted the Prestige initially. Now catching up with the Departed.

I'm not sure what the magic number is for profitability is for each format. Anyone else heard buzz?

100K units sold is traditionally considered a major milestone for a new format. This is why all the studios took notice (erroneously) of UMD. It had two titles sell 100K each very early on, and the studios read too much into it.

So, it will be interesting to see the reactions if Casino Royale sells 100K units. It will have occured earlier than DVD.
