That's too bad, as the best part of the sequel was the set up for part 3.

I honestly don't buy it. They'll make it eventually.

I'm not sure I believe it either. It would be sort of a cop out to leave the series where it is, with no real closure. There's a lot of interesting directions you could take the third film. I'm betting Reedus let the news slip, and Duffy didn't want that. This is probably damage control.
