United Kingdom What is the best storage unit to have?

Hi guys just after so advise i am currently looking for a new unit to house my blu-rays but not having much joy ideally i would love something like this:

http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Prod...er/9326943.htm

However i would like it to be a taller unit, i like the idea of pigeon holes as it has more support to hold steelbooks, i cant seem to find anything online what sort of storage do you guys use?

Like you, I wanted tall units. Ended up buying two of these from Amazon and liked them so much I bought 3 more. Not quite as tall as I'd like but taller than everything else I could find and each one holds 378 Blu-rays. With a collection of over 2000 Blu's and growing I needed something like these.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PIGEON-HOLE-Blu-ray-Media-Storage/dp/B003874GES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347973330&sr=8-1

Liked them so much I bought 3 more so now have five in total ready for future expansion.

They are available in other woods and delivery was VERY speedy even with the free shipping. At £90 I think they're great value but they do take a few hours to put together.

If you want some pictures of them populated let me know.

Those look amazing, Fastandfluid! The shelves look the perfect height for blu-rays, which isn't easy to find.

And I love the LOTR statues on the top. My blu-ray bookcase has a LOTR theme on top of it as well - Weta's Bag End with the DVD EEs presented between the Argonath bookends and the Complete Recordings CDs. I have Weta's Orthanc model as well but sadly it has to sit elsewhere in the living room.

I have two glass display cabinets (one with motorised rotating shelves which I love) full of LOTR statues from Weta.

This is what people who knock on my front door see when I open the door to my front porch:

Those look killer man.Only thing I'd do different would be to have one shelf slightly bigger for those special editions.

Thanks mate. The 4 shelves up from the bottom are higher than the 5 shelves above them by 20mm each, to accommodate for special edition blu packaging, dvd's and games. It's hard to see that the 4 bottom shelves are higher in the photo because of how I was standing when I took the shots.

That's amazing! Especially the clapperboard -

Above my blu-rays/LOTR shelf I have a frame containing the soundtrack CD cover signed by Howard Shore and the Fellowship DVD cover signed by Ian McKellen. Greeting visitors to my place is a framed version of Weta's Disturber of the Peace print - less intimidating than Sauron's helmet:

[Show spoiler]

My girldfriend thinks I've LOTRed the flat enough as it is (I also have a framed 40"x30" Fellowship quad poster above the dining table and a framed Hobbit one-sheet in the bedroom), she'd realise how easy she's got it if she saw your collection.

Love the print!

Yeah. I've just moved house and sold some stuff off but still got picture prints in the garage (one from each movie signed by Jackson, Taylor and McKellen/Howe/Taylor with an embedded film cell with a button in the frame to light up the film cell).

Haven't found a home yet for a frame that contains two pages of original sheet music score with my photo of Howard Shore at the New Zealand premiere inbetween them (I was in New Zealand as photographer for the official magazine) and which I got him to sign after I'd printed it. Not enough wall space so it sits in bubble-wrap in the garage!

I think we're getting off topic here. So what do you use to store your blu-rays? ;-)

I'm trying very hard not to get jealous and bitter but you're pushing it... Sounds like an absolutely incredible collection.

I tried searching for it but I couldn't find it - it's a bookcase I got from Argos back in 2003 for my DVDs. It's only about 3ft tall (I didn't notice that when I ordered it) but it's a great build and has adjustable shelves which divide nicely into perfect blu-ray height. It's very nearly full though so I'm hoping my girlfriend's dad wasn't just being polite when he said he'd build me a custom bookcase as I have big plans for how to display my (meagre compared to some... ) LOTR collection. Poor guy is expecting just to build a few straight shelves, I don't know how he'll react when I give him the plans including cubby holes, display units and lighting.

If not I'm considering the units you have, they look great.
