Best & Worst accents performed in a movie

One of the worst accents by far is Ewan Mcgregor in The Island. You can hear his British accent slip through several times during the movie.

I can understand an actor who may have his or her accent "slip" every now and then in a movie due to a poor performance but coming from a very credible actor as Ewan Mcgregor, and seeing that his character in the movie The Island is a "clone," and not a twin, isolated from a Scottish society, probably will have some sort of deminished accent elements to his character especially after being confined to an island for that matter.

I thought The Island is by far one of the best films coming from Michael Bay.

Brendan Gleeson's American accents lol I love the guy but I always giggle when he does that accent.

No one has mentioned Charlize Theron yet so I'll put her name up. She's great at most of her roles, considering she speaks native South African quite well.

Not so good, was Sean Connery's Russian in "The Hunt for Red October"......

Best American accent I can ever remember is Damien Lewis in Band of Brothers, and also Homeland. I had no idea he was a limey until I looked him up.

I'm not sure Connery has ever put on an accent (other than his natural one obviously).

Russian sub captain in Hunt for Red October: Scottish accent.
Irish cop in The Untouchables: Scottish accent.
Ancient Egpytian (I think) warrior guy in The Highlander: Scottish accent.
A Berber in the Wind and the Lion: Scottish accent.
Robin Hood and King Arthur... Scottish accent.

Gary Oldman...period! I love him and that man is a true character actor and chameleon. He can do American, regional American (Midwest in The Contender, New York in State of Grace, southern in Fifth Element), regional English (Sid and Nancy,Tinker Tailor), Russian (Air Force One), Romanian (Dracula), Caribbean (True Romance)...to name a few.the man is supremely talented and one of the best actors!

Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder (Dracula...ironic because Oldman is British and does accents wonderfully, but these two are cringeworthy)
