If it means anything, disney usually makes the movies coming out soon Error cannot be found. These were all errors. There all ones that have been announced, but i thought it was interesting disney is updating the entries.
Atlantis
Brother Bear
Robin Hood
Mulan
Peter Pan
Tarzan
101 dalmations

EDIT

whoa i'm confused now. According to a poster over at dvdizzy, the insert in Cindy says the spring diamond edition is Peter Pan!

It's bad enough they're already missing the 20th Anniversary, but if they're going to delay Aladdin further, it better be to add it to the 3D queue.

Why is it that Disney seems to be slacking on their restoration work, on beloved classics no less?

You'd expect those films in the diamond collection to be of the highest quality.

Can you provide a link to see the insert? Thanks!

EDIT

Ok, so I found the DVDizzy forum and according to member msh1975, Peter Pan is indeed the Spring Diamond while The Little Mermaid is the Fall Diamond. Still, he/she hasn’t post any pictures of the insert yet so is pending confirmation. Anyway, if Aladdin is not out on BD next year it will really suck, I was really looking forward to owning that film on BD since is one of my favorite Disney films. On the other hand, I’m very happy Mermaid has been confirmed for fall 2013.

If Peter Pan is the spring diamond, the current line-up is more confusing than ever. Isn’t the Diamond collection worldwide? Still in all the countries Peter Pan is coming out this year, none of them advertise it as a Diamond edition. WTF is happening?

Here’s the link for the DVDizzy forum:

My guess? 3D conversion, and it might take some time to do that.

Wow, three people asked for a visual confirmation, we didn't get it, and you're STILL making assumptions/delving corporate strategy at face value? (And from DVDizzy, at that?)
I've got this bridge I've been meaning to sell...

(But to entertain the blue-sky theories, I'll go with GC: They've already got the digital/IMAX Aladdin print for conversion, they're just waiting on Mermaid. That's IF.)

Sorry about that I was just about to log off when i read that, i put it in the
peter pan thread, just not this one. According to different childrens books that are upcoming the descriptions say that peter pan is a 60th anniv. in one and a diamond edition in another. Neither banner is used in any country right now. So maybe its both?

Far from a scam, it's a great way to get Disney Blu-ray's cheap.

They have a current coupon that will get you 5 for a buck, throw another one for I think 10 that counts as a fulfillment title, and another one for another 8 that doesn't leaving you to have to buy 2 more at full price (around 30 each) within 2 years)

Since Disney Animated BD's typically don't price drop very much, below the 15-20 dollar range, and in those cases I'm typically buying them new even with the 30 dollar price tag on the 2 I have to buy I'm getting 9 Blu ray releases for 90 bucks or roughly 10 bucks each.

And I got some new ones in there by calling in. That's not a scam, even Columbia House has different offers based on whether or not you call or use the online service, sometimes online is behind. I just got my intro package which included

Rescuers 1 and 2
Alice in Wonderland
Wall-E
Dumbo
Lady and the Tramp
Secret World of Arietty
Aristocats

I just saw a TV spot for Cinderella, pretty sure i liked it better than the actual trailer lol. I hope disney posts it on youtube!

@puppyjonathan, yes all of the restorations were scanned at 2k or higher, so from bambi on they are using the same restorations

From what I understand, disney used the same scan, but altered the restoration a bit. Kind of like if they were to fix the current cinderella restoration. I don't know which movies they used a 2k scan or a 4k scan on though.

Edit: So far from what I've been searching, snow white, fantasia, song of the south, sleeping beauty, fantasia, dumbo, and Alice have definitely gotten the 4k treatment. I've heard Bambi has and hasn't gotten a 4k transfer, but if the 03 restoration was indeed 4k and down-scaled, the rest of the platinums should be 4k.

I thought Song of the South only had parts of it scanned and restored in 4K

The whole movie has been scanned, restored is another thing, I'm not really sure. It was done for preservation purposes.

Some people may find this interview about disney's restoration interesting, I know i did: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/t/31...r-film-library

It was, but obviously it was on DVD so no one could really notice the difference, just that there was more detail.

I know I love that interview but when I originally read it I thought they only said parts of it were scanned, maybe they meant restored
