Is Homeland really that good? Reviews only seem average.

Which would be ridiculous since it's nowhere near the level of Breaking Bad...

I enjoy the show and I'm definitely looking forward to Season 2. Claire Danes deserved to win. Damian Lewis is excellent too, but him winning over Bryan Cranston and Jon Hamm?

I couldn't say, I've been meaning to watch it but haven't got the chance yet. It must be pretty damn good if it can push Lewis to win over Cranston's performance in the Crawl Space episode because that was amazing. You can't count on the Emmy's to get it right though, considering The Wire never won jack from them.

I love the series Homeland but it shouldn't be winning anything except Best Actress Claire Danes. Claire definitely deserved Best Actress IMO, but I'm scratching my head big time on Damian Lewis winning Best Actor. If I were to rank the Best Actor in a Drama series it would be:

1. Cranston
2. Buscemi
3. Hall
4. Lewis

Also scratching my head on Julie Louis-Dreyfus for Actress in a comedy. Veep is downright awful and Dreyfus's acting isn't much better on that show.

I am happy about a few. Aaron Paul deserved Supporting Actor in a Drama. Tom Berenger also earned his supporting actor in a miniseries or movie. Same with Jessica Lange supporting actress in a series.

I was surprised he won over the rest. But honestly it's better than Buscemi winning again, not that he doesn't deserve it, it just gets old when the same people keep winning.

Not so sure about Julie Louis-Dreyfus though...

Well this is just stupid. I don't know how they consider the first season of Homeland to be better than the 4th season of Breaking Bad.

I feel bad for Jon Hamm and Mad Men actors in general. I hope they win some awards once Breaking Bad is over

It took everything I had just to bear two episodes of Veep. Absolute garbage of a show. Dreyfus winning best Supporting Actress is the biggest joke of the night. Homeland didn't deserve best series, but at least it's a quality show unlike Veep.

Game Change winning was almost as bad. I get the feeling politics played too big a role in that one winning. Hatfields & McCoys or American Horror Story deserved to win that category IMO.

Ditto on Julianne Moore winning. I'm sorry but Palin is practically a cartoon character who just about any actress could play.

How is a show for old people and NCIS fans "quality" because that what it looks like to me.

Here's how it won....

Huh? I hate NCIS and I'm relatively young. Homeland didn't come close to deserving to win but it's a very good show.

I watched once and that was enough, I've seen worse but it's nothing special.

I agree about Game Change, I wasn't expecting it to win that much but I guess people really don't like Sarah Palin or something.

I'm young and I like Homeland and NCIS Maybe Homeland didn't deserve best drama series but like I said, it's better than some other shows winning again. It's not at all that they don't deserve it but the category becomes pointless and predictable to have when it's the same winners all the time.

Jessica Lange and Aaron Paul definitely deserved theirs though. Jon Cryer, no.

I loved Game Change. That whole cast was amazing, especially Moore.

I wanted to send Mr. Hand after all those who voted for Ho-land rather than the (vastly superior) Breaking Bad......

I wonder if it's the same body who voted for The King's Speech over The Social Network.

I finished watching season 2 last night and I likely it way better than season 1 because they picked up the pace more. The only thing I didn't like was the ending of the last episode.

[Show spoiler]They showed scenes of it throughout the entire season and made it seem like it was going to be a huge thing. When I saw Esposito at the DEA office I thought he was going to have people go to Walts house and there was going to be some kind of shot out. Then I remembered the beginning with all the smoke and I thought that didn't make sense. When I saw the girls dad as an air traffic controller then it all made sense. It ended up being a super let down for me.

I screamed out "NO!!" when they won because I wanted GoT to win.

I don't understand though, why are they in this years Emmy's when their season hasnt started yet? It's so stupid, all those other shows had already finished their season for those years awards and being judged on them but HL was being judged again on their first season. Can someone explain to me why that is?

The Emmy's have set dates that shows have to air during to be eligible, it is the same reason that Breaking Bad was not eligible last year.

So a show can be up for awards twice for the same season?

That's kind of stupid if you ask me. I'm surprised more shows don't take advantage of that loop hole.

I might be misunderstanding you, but are you asking why Homeland was up for awards twice for the same season? This was the first year that Homeland was nominated. Here are the nominees for 2011
