I have those queued on Netflix so hopefully I will check them out soon!

Not a Blu-ray, but I picked up a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 yesterday, so have been having a bit of fun with that

Still no sign of my U.S orders

Received: Replacement item of Departed/Blood Diamond from Warner Bros.

Eeesh, this story never ends. First, they send me two copies of the wrong item. Then I'm told that I'm wrong because the packing slip and the product number matches. Apparently the fact that the packing slip and what I ordered online didn't match was me imagining things - I was actually told "No, that couldn't happen". Surprise - it did. So, I finally get an email yesterday (a week after my original contact) to advise that replacements have been sent and a return envelope will be in the package for the wrong item. Yay - finally going to get what I paid for!

No, not so much.

One copy of the title shows up when I ordered two. Grrr..... seriously. Oh, and the envelope to return the items is a standard Australia Post Express Post letter envelope. Max width 20mm though the two titles I have to return are double Amaray boxsets totalling 60mm wide.

So:
  • Two and a half weeks to dispatch the wrong items
  • When I call the return number on the packing slip I'm told I have to put the request in writing even though the packing slip blatantly states I must call the number I called
  • I'm told that I made the mistake and it's not possible that the packing slip could have different items listed to the ones I ordered
  • It takes one week to dispatch replacement items
  • I get the wrong number of replacement items
  • I need to shrink the items to return by 1/3 to fit them in the envelope provided Maybe Rick Moranis can help me out.
Seriously, if it wasn't so damn annoying it'd be hysterical. Every step of the way has been a complete shambles. This is why I buy from Amazon.

^ Hi,

Is this because of the Audio track on Departed? The cover saying a lossless track, and it still being the Lossy on the Disc?

In regards to sending the items back, just take one out of the case and send it back just with the cover. If they only sent you a bag for one, that's what I would do.

No, I ordered two Departed/Blood Diamond double packs. What I got in the post was two V for Vendetta/Last Samurai double packs.

I've sent an email but it seems the staff member responsible is having a long-long weekend and is out of the office from 1pm until next Tuesday so we'll be up to 1 month by then to get items from a warehouse that is situated 1 hour away from my house.

Well it's a mess all right. The whole thing started with their computer system. Somehow their online ordering system issued a packing slip with a completely different product number on it. Everything else though, we'll that's the human element and so far it's been pretty average.

Seems a shame. If they had had the capacity to get this up and running smoothly, a WB "shop" could be useful and a good product outlet for both WB and its customers. But it seems this has fallen into "not with a bargepole" status.

Amen. Direct from the studio with good prices. Would be great. Unfortunately like most Australian online presences a lot of the back end services leave a lot to be desired for - communication, speed, quality control, timeliness - they all need work.

The Five Year Engagement 3.5/5

Not bad. Charming. A bit overlong.

Julia's Eyes 4/5

Chilling. Skeptical at first but well produced. So effective I felt heavy watching the whole film.

The title of that film makes me laugh. In another 1 and a half years, my fiancee and I will have been engaged for 5 years. My fiancee isn't the type of women who cares about arranging the wedding as soon as getting engaged like a lot of women, and she doesn't want a big wedding either, just something small and simple that doesn't cost a lot. However she does want quite an expensive honeymoon, traveling around Europe. We haven't even started planning anything yet, we are taking our time. I reckon we will be engaged for more than 5 years, we are just happy the way things are.

Woot! In some good news apparently 3 Amazon packages are at home waiting for me. Now the wait for home time so I can find out which ones they are! Also got a delivery of materials to build a photography light box. Really been getting into photography and this will come in handy for product photography. Might have to test it out on a few SteelBook photos once I've built it.

What sort of stuff did you get for the lightbox? I'm into photography too, and for the longest time, I've had to work with a point and shoot + cardboard delivery boxes, cooking foil, tracing paper, desk lamps from Target to make a poor man's light box while I was at Uni.

It will build a decent sized box, will be light weight and have a good neutral white surface. Got some cheap lights from Bunnings with flexible arms for good positioning and with a white interior to reflect well. Then picked up some energy saving globes with a colour temperature of 5000 to get the right colour light. All up the project will have cost me less than $60. I'll build it over the weekend and post a test photo when done. Hopefully all goes to plan...

Do you guys think approximately $55 after currency exchange is a good price to pay for a mint U.S version of Zodiac shipped here to OZ?

I don't think that is too bad, it's only about $15 more than what it was when it first came out in NZ. Go for it!

Yeah. If you think it's worth it then the price is OK.
