Default PS3 Remotes

Are there any top tier universal remotes that are bluetooth compatible and can control the PS3? I've been in the market for a Logitech Harmony remote but haven't pulled the trigger due to PS3 incompatibility. The Sony PS3 Blu-Ray remote is in my quick picks on Amazon for $18.99 so I may go ahead and pick that up to tide me over.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I have yet to find a remote that will fit my needs that is also Blutooth compatible.

I do not believe there is. The remote is the sole reason why I will never have a PS3 as my blu-ray player.

I have a Harmony and use the Bluetooth remote. After two days it really isn't that big of a deal to have that one extra remote . . .

It should, as most uni. remotes can learn the codes or you can probably get the program codes for it.

hey check out the nYko Blue Wave remote kit. its a small USB adapter that plugs into the front and acts as an infrared eye. you can then learn all of the commands on the remote that it comes with into your universal remote. the only buttons it lacks are Power and the PS button. however when yer watching a movie the PS button really isn't all that important. i've been very happy with it as a temporary solution until some good universal blue tooth remotes come out. the Blue Wave goes for about 20 bucks depending where ya go but it works damn well and is a great solution for the time being.

This one is also nice, although it's not universal.

They also have a really nice NES clone there too, if you're interested.

No offense, but that's a weird reason to not own one. I have the Harmony 880, and use the Nyko USB dongle to control everything. Works like a charm! No need for an on/off button since you have to get up to put the movie in anyway

I would love a PS3 Remote that lit up, I find it so annoying trying to angle it to the light of my TV to see the buttons.

One thing bad about the Blue tooth remotes is that the batteries don't last too long. Sony needs to redesign their blue tooth remote and make it rechargable like the PS3 game bad via the USB slot.

If you don't mind spending a bit more money, here's a really good one (it has the ability to turn the PS3 on and off!!!), I bought it and it works great!

That Schmarts one looks great. Surprised someone hasn't done it commercially. The poweron/off is a bit nasty though. I'd get the model without.

What's nasty about it? The only visible thing is a thin black wire going to the power on/off touch button, but even that can be concealed easily with black tape. It does work flawlessly. And you can program your IR universal remote to turn the PS3 on and off...you can't beat that.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to pay $50 for a Schmartz remote, just to integrate it into your universal remote. Just get the Nyko blu-wave for $13.99 from Amazon and it does the same thing, except without the on/off button. But really, you need to get up to put a disc in anyway, so what's the big deal?
