![]() I make a point to go there as often as possible, just for the babes ![]() Seriously, it’s always important to support the independents and as in the past and with this year, many of the same people that were nominated there will also be in attendance at the Kodak this evening. So, yes. |

In fact to the converse, I encouraged a redo of TFE………….. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...7&postcount=37 Please also refer to page1 of that old thread ^ where Mr. Mack is accusing SPE that “they were ALWAYS going to do a double dip!” which is likewise a false accusation as there was never any pre-meditated ulterior financial motive. For the record, the post supervisor for that particular title (TFE) assumed the master for that title was superb. That was an oversight in the quality control process, plain and simple during the early days of the format. Might I add that since then, this same post supervisor has probably done more for the home theater enthusiast than any individual I can recall, offhand. Completely unrelated to The Fifth Element issue, he got flat panels into the HD suites after having noticed that grain/noise problems were appearing on consumer LCD screens which were not visible on the pro HD CRT screens due to the nature of the CRT raster lines softening some high-frequency detail and hiding those flaws. He also wrote an industry report to highlight this issue and he encouraged other studios and post houses to do the same. [END] |

Sorry, I missed your question.
I don’t follow Apple closely at all so you may want to inquire with our other insiders on this forum. I can tell you though, since you mentioned FCP (Final Cut Pro) in your initial posting, that ever since Apple informed the public it would not be an official presence at the upcoming NAB trade show, rumors have been running rampant throughout the industry that Apple has been making arrangements to sell its Final Cut Studio software to an outside entity. I don’t know if the above rumor is or isn’t of some merit. Now, it’s time for me to get ready for da show. ![]() If any folks out there are into Oscar betting and such, I hope you all win your office pools. |

Penton, do you believe that any FCP sale would likely also includ DVD STudio Pro?
I'd love to have Spruce back on PC, so much better from an end-user perspective than Scenarist ![]() If you were to speculate, do you see this as a sign of Apple getting out of the post buis alltogether, not as a platform but as a company? |

From - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1340 In regards to our previous discussion regarding fourth and fifth generation optical technologies that could someday surpass Blu-ray (before downloading of high definition movies ever becomes mainstream), I hope that the recent Y. Kawata referral (from Shizuoka University) came in handy. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1351 I see that the Director of your lab/program was recently quoted in an online article about Blu-ray, the past high-def optical disc war, etc. Send her a smile from me. ![]() This may also be of some interest to you …….. I just don’t know how to interpret Apple’s seemingly lack of interest in continuing development related to FCP. In other words, if this signals their desire to move away from the video editing/post production business, your guess is as good as mine………or better. |

Guys, I’ve dusted off the ole shoes, pulled the penguin suit out of the closet and I’ve been pampered like a peacock today.
![]() It’s now sunny and I hope it stays that way. If I don’t drop in for the next couple days, consider a major after party hangover. ![]() Also, and yes, I will be attending with my wife so I shall be on the best behavior...........possible. |

Lots of people from my side of the pond very happy for Marion. She was gorgeous and really deserved her prize.
If she's smart to pick the right projects, her Hollywood career could take off. The next Michael Mann movie should be big. |

She was my one "sure thing" pick for the evening (yes, I know I'm in the minority). It's very rare when people start talking in March about a performance that is "guaranteed" to win the Oscar. It may not have had a lot of buzz, but I think every voter compared everyone throughout the entire year to her trying to knock her off and they just fell short.
