Default HDMI help

so i was at bestbuy the other day and was looking at hdmi cables, yes the over priced monster one's. now first of all, i'm not going to spend $100 for a six foot hdmi cable, but i was looking on the packaging about how their wires offer the most uncompressed hd audio, and how the framerate transfer through the cables increase picture quality drastically. so it got me thinking, do these expensive cables really improve picture/audio at all? in all honesty. or are they the exact same as if i were to spend $5 for a cable at monoprice.com?

Same thing. Most people buy from monoprice, I always get mine from www.bluejeanscable.com. A little more expensive, but I've always dealt with them and have been very happy.

On CBC (Canada Broadcasting Corperation) they have a show called Market Place wher they test products and look into business practices of companies.

Last week ( I kid you not) they tested cables and said there was no difference between a $ 100 HDMI Monster cable and a $12 HDMI cable they bought of the net!

If you do not decide to go uber cheap route, Belkin has cables that are usually quite a bit cheaper than Monster.

VasterCables is a good source for high quality HDMI cables, particularly for long lenghts.

Same here. I've done many business transactions with both places, and haven't had a negative experience as of yet. Not to mention, you'll save yourself a good deal of coin in the process.

Two thumbs up.

Hey Canada I saw that episode of Marketplace. I was glad they finally did a piece on HDMI to show people how badly they are getting screwed.

Plus I always had that little voice in the back of my head (not the one that makes me burn stuff) wondering if monoprice was on par with Monster.

At this point the only thing is that the cables themselves look better from Monster. But their behind the unit so looks doesn't really matter.

It's a scam. They transmit digital data, either the cable works or it doesn't - there is almost no in-between. Unless you're using a cable a mile long there is no difference between a $5 cable and a $500 cable.
