I replied to your similar post in the Phantasm 2 thread, so I'm just gonna copy/paste it here:

I think Scream Factory would have to make a new deal with Universal then.

I remember hearing that Anchor Bay had actually lost rights to many movies some years ago. I ran into Bill Listing at a convention in LA and he was talking about how he obviously isn't involved with Anchor Bay any more but he did say that he still hears of some goings on and that they had lost or were going to lose rights to many films. I do know they don't have SUSPIRIA anymore. I do forget who owns now but, i do dream about Scream Factory getting a hold of it. I am not alone thinking this would be a holy grail of a title.

If a Trancers series Blu-Ray were to be produced, I'd bet on it coming from Full Moon, not Scream! Factory.

Scanners could definitely use a special edition with the film properly synced.
Echo Bridge has the Trancers films

I think someone said that The Weinstein Company has the rights.

Full Moon still owns the Trancers films. Echo Bridge has a sub-license deal with Full Moon however. And as far as Suspiria goes, Weinstein does own the rights and since they have a deal with Anchor Bay, it's back with the said studio.

And also, Shout! should extend their deal with Universal so more of their library can be released (including Child's Play 2 and Army Of Darkness).

The sooner we get David Gordon Green's Suspiria remake, the sooner we'll get a US Blu-Ray for the original.

They do. They are behind the re-make and it's speculated that they'll re-release the original when the re-make is released, unsure if that'll be during the theatrical run or during home video release.
If it doesn't come out then...
seriously

It's been in pre-production lockdown for a long time.
When they thought they had Natalie Portman attached, something happened to make her ditch Suspiria and jump to Black Swan.
I suspect her agents and managers didn't like the slowness or uncertainty of the project and they wanted to get her into a ballet movie right away, thus Black Swan took flight and Suspiria took a different direction with a new lead.
I'm not particularly thrilled with the idea of a remake, but if it brings the original to blu-ray then I'm here to show my support.

This has never been released on DVD in the US, and has been released in what is apparently a fairly shoddy DVD release in Europe. Their has been a decent quality widescreen print played on the Sony Movie Channel, but it has yet to be played again since the last showing.
It's been streaming on Netflix for the last month or two - widescreen & HD.

I hope it bombs. I just want a good Blu-Ray of the original.

How about a Scanners box set with a lenticular cover that can incorporate this. Since the chain b&m retailers aren't really carrying them anyhow, they can't complain.

Now that we're officially entering a new week, I figured I'd see what everyone's thoughts are for this Friday's upcoming announcement already? I know that we still haven't received a hint yet but speaking generally I think we'll see another "never before on DVD" title and I also feel there is a slight chance of a complete 360 happening with Scream Factory introducing a sci-fi flick. "Without Warning" perhaps? I'm sure once we get a hint it'll be easier for us to simplify our assumptions but nonetheless what are you guys thinking for this week?

Scanners 3: The Takeover, Scanner Cop, and Scanners: The Showdown are owned by Republic and are therefore with Olive Films. But if Scream was the one who aquired the rights to the first film, they could also put in a double feature with Scanners 2: The New Order (owned by Fox which has a deal with Shout!).

Also, we're on page 100, y'all!

We've gotten a couple of hints about the Friday announcements late on Thursday - we can only speculate then, Frightener But, what's to stop us from trying anyway? Here goes:

Without Warning would seem to be one the big, highly-requested titles but my feeling is Shout will want to spread out the big ones and mix it up a little. Town That Dreaded Sundown was a big one, and they announced a second one to boot, so next week I think we're getting a smaller one. My guess?

LIFEFORCE

Also, anybody else think they'll make Town/Sundown and Evictors a double feature since they're both by the same director?

What about Night Terror (aka Night Drive), a NBC TV movie from 1977 starring Valerie Harper. I've never seen it, but it seems like it may be good.

Night Drive

Cliff....do you think 'One Dark Night' (1983) could be a possibility for a Blu release from Scream Factory?

Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter and Billy the Kid vs. Dracula is my guess.

I'll stick with my earlier prediction and also say Without Warning.

Cliff I was wondering - is there any realistic chance of you guys releasing Clownhouse? It's owned by MGM but obviously there's a lot of controversy surrounding the film and the actions of director Victor Salva. Would that put you off releasing it? If not, I was hoping you might include Salva's short, 'Something in the Basement', as an extra.
