Very happy to hear that a sequel is coming. With the Blu-Ray coming out in October, I think the series will gradually gain an audience.

I'm glad to hear this - I haven't actually seen Prometheus yet, so I can't comment on how I feel about it, but I know that a lot of people enjoyed it, and it seems the only right thing to do would be let Sir Ridley continue his story and give us a conclusion. I know from interviews with him that he's planning on a trilogy of films set in the Prometheus universe, but whether we see the last one or not sadly depends on how much the second one makes. In those interviews, though, he didn't sound too impressed with filming in 3D, so maybe all them won't be released in it and he'll be back to 2D for the second and possible third instalments.

I can see Paradise answering a whole list of questions from Prometheus....but the story might be a bit tricky....like the fact that at the end of the movie would be the beginning of Paradise? Also,
[Show spoiler]how's she to be treated once she reaches her destination? Would she be able to fix the droid? Would she have sufficient supply to keep her alive? Or would something disastrous happen along the way? Would that start a chain of events that would lead to something completely catastrophic to the Engineers?

Damn! This is a trilogy? Scott is something like 75 years old! I was hoping it was just a two-parter and he could finish it

"likely" is a solid term for this storyline, but originally it was supposed to be a two-parter....

I agree. In fact, if the P sequel is successful, following films in the franchise will deviate further from Alien. We may never see an actual Alien prequel.

I'm wondering if the Blade Runner sequel will be put on hold in favor of proceeding with P 2,

There's only so many years Sir Ridley can put in to create the movies he wants to create, but he may deviate other projects to other directors? If only Tony Scott was still here....it still bums me out he's not here anymore....

A Prometheus/Blade Runner link. Tyrell was Weyland's mentor. Found in Prometheus Blu-ray extras.

This is why Guy Pearce was in old man make-up. He's playing his younger self in the Blade Runner movie. Mark my words! Or, if I'm wrong, don't

I thought ridley said that the last movie would end/tie into the first Alien?
I'm sure I read that on this site.

Collider is reporting on the Easter Egg also. It has some analysis of the text in the Easter Egg. It certainly confirms that the Prometheus Sequel and the Blade Runner Sequel will take place in the same universe.

That's pretty big news - that Scott has decided to link universes is something that I never thought would happen, but especially with two of the most anticipated and exciting releases ever reported. I hope that the Blade Runner sequel really does the original proud, and that Paradise continues the grand themes begun here in Prometheus. I cannot wait for both of those sequels!

There is still some question about whether Scott is pandering to fans or being serious. I think I saw an interview several months ago where he said Alien, Prometheus and Blade Runner are in the same universe.

I think he is serious about the link. As a result, I don't mind seeing Blade Runner before the Paradise Prometheus sequel if that is the schedule. It seems that Fox and Scott are further along on Paradise than the Alcon and Blade Runner sequel. That could change over time.

I wonder if this could be an issue?:

"More news to get riled up over. Alcon Entertainment released a press release (via Deadline) announcing that they're in final discussions to secure film, television and ancillary franchise rights (meaning any other spin-offs/series and so on) to produce prequels and sequels to Ridley Scott's iconic science fiction thriller Blade Runner

where have you guys been? Scott has always said Alien and Blade Runner coexist it and if the Nostromo returned to Earth it would be the world in which Blade Runner takes place and Ash is a replicant. if Alien and BR coexist then Prometheus is obviously in the same universe too.

It might just be me, but I'd never heard that or even thought about the link. I just enjoyed them as two seperate entities, both superb films set in a distant, but similar, future. But now I've found out this, it makes his films a lot more appealing to me (even though I was an avid Scott fan anyway) and I hope to see more obvious links in both sequels he's planning.

To answer the age questions that some people have brought up - I think that he's now finally doing the films that he's planned for so long. Both Alien and Blade Runner are thirty years in the past now (Alien obviously more so) and he's had plenty of time to plan story arcs to sequels for them both. This is the time where he can walk into any film company, state he wants to do something and they'll give him the money for it. Well done, Ridley!
