Hi guys,
First post. I picked up the Digibook copy of Jaws from JB and found that the j-card was sticky-taped onto the front of the Digibook. When I removed the J-card, it the sticky-tape had damaged a bit of the Digibook. I returned it to JB for a second copy, and this one had the same problem. I opened 3 different copies in the store and they all had the same problem to some degree. Has anyone had any luck getting one without getting any damage on the front from the tape? Really pissed off with this. |

Mine didn't have that problem, but I bought it in the first week of release. I'm wondering if the adhesive has got a bit tacky since it was released.
Things like eucalptus oil is good for getting sticky residue off, but I'd be cautious here because it might be absorbed by the cover and leave an oily stain instead. I've heard slowly peeling things like this while pointing a hair dryer at the spot where the tape and cover meet can help get it off without damaging the surface, because it partially melts and loosens the adhesive. But not all adhesive is the same. |

It's not actually glue residue that's left behind, but what happens is the sticky tape actually removes a bit of the matte finish from the cover. If you look closely at it, it kinda looks like there is still tape there but it's infact the clear coating removed from the cover. One of the copies I opened looked quite bad and had actually bubbled up where the tape was stuck. Going to try my luck with another copy from a different store over the weekend. If that has the same problem then I give up.
The chick at the counter told me a few people had returned their copies for the same reason, so I know I'm not the only one. Surprised no one here has had the same problem. This is my first digibook, so not a pleasant experience. I've also just started collecting steelbooks too and each one I've received has had some sort of defect, either a small dent, a scratch or paint chip. Not having the best luck...starting to think maybe I should just stick to regular amaray releases, less frustrating and cases are easily replaceable lol. |
