Just received my coffin set! Noticed that a couple of the discs were loose in the packaging and feared there would be scratches , but none whatsoever! Took a quick look at Dracula and WOW, the picture and sound quality are great Very much looking forward to watching these on the weekend

Same here enjoying the lovely countryside that is New Jersey since Monday.

That's great bro... as much as I appreciate the price tag on AMZ UK and ordered it right away (which still hasn't arrived yet), I kinda like the packaging of the French Edition... each disc comes with a individual blu-ray case - which is really impressive.

So far I watched:
Dracula
Frankenstein
The Mummy with commentary (Burns/Baker)
The Invisible Man

They look and sound magnificent!

The line up for the rest of October is:

Bride of Frankenstein
The Wolf Man
Phantom of the Opera
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Dracula - Spanish
Dracula with commentary (Dead/Loving It director)
Frankenstein with pop up trivia (might bleed into November)

So far I've watched Dracula and Frankenstein and I've been very impressed. With all the talk of a noise floor in the reviews I was expecting hiss levels that were lessened but much closer to earlier incarnations but to me noise/hiss is all but gone (and not in a sterile, artificial way).

Very nice job.

Yeah, we might see it by the weekend if the packages can get out of the swamps of Jersey tonight. Stupid me, I just praised DHLGA the other night thinking it would only take a couple of days to get up here from Jersey. I should have known better as their deliveries always take 2 weeks or more to get to me. Good luck and hopefully we'll see some movement tonight.

Coffin set arrived today in excellent condition. I really like the packaging, discs all on hubs so they won't scratch. Book slides out of coffin easily, and ratings logos on a throwaway paper band that goes around the coffin!

I think i'm going to have to get this Coffin set. It's about half the price of the U.S. release and since the ratings logos are on a throwaway band, it won't be an eyesore (sorry, those red and blue logos really bother me ).

I acknowledged a few pages back in this thread that I felt the U.S. set would have an advantage in shipping. With the discs in sleeves, there's no opportunity for them to get loose and rattle around.

However, I believe the UK set has the advantage in day-to-day use. It's very easy to access the individual discs and there is no concern about them sliding against the sleeves or getting fingerprints on the data side while trying to grasp them.

It is regrettable that some have had discs come loose from the UK set while in shipping. I'm fortunate not to have had that problem. But I prefer the UK system for long term ownership.

Ideally, this set would be shipped in U.S. sleeve packaging and then transferred to the UK hub style packaging for regular access.

Having it shipped on the UK hubs and THEN transferring to the U.S. sleeves is, in my opinion, the worst of both worlds.
☺you know, you are right!! ... but it seems that way as ive become a fan of the cardboard sleeves and fumble with the 'hub sets' ( i have others and 100s of thousands of dvds and bds)... ur points are strong and i take them to heart as i talk my self into the economical and actually pretty cool UK set ... so thanks and ide still buy a cardboard sleeve holder if it t'wernt too much ☺lol

It may or may have not been posted or discussed, but does anyone have a legit photo of their set, cases and all?

Finally got my UK coffin set in the mail today. It's much smaller than I expected it to be, but damn, this set is beautiful! Definitely one of the best, if not the best piece in my collection. I feel like a little monster kid again. Can't wait till this weekend when I can sit down with some popcorn and dig into this monster movie marathon.

Received my order today, was very unhappy to see my set was crushed & one plastic tray was broken. i sent amazon an e-mail about their horrible packaging, hoping they will discount or give me a credit. This is the first time they have sent my order with horrible packaging. It had opened up & collection probably fell out & mail person just shoved my movies back in...

My three UK singles were estimated to arrive today, but were no-shows. Instead, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane and Strangers on a Train were in my mailbox! Released and shipped yesterday via super-saver shipping.

I'd rather have the monsters, but those two will entertain me until they arrive. I ordered Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein and Invisible Man. Someday, I want to see Creature from the Black Lagoon, because Marilyn Monroe's character in Seven Year Itch sympathized with the creature, as she was leaving a theatre with that movie's title on its marquee, just before the famous subway grating scene.

Some of my Amazon.co.uk orders (always Royal Mail) have arrived later than estimated, so there's nothing to worry about yet. When I had a problem with one order, Amazon asked me to wait one week before filing a non-delivery complaint.
