In the meantime I see Beowulf HD DVD review is up at High Def Digest.
I thought to myself "I bet it gets 5/5 for PQ and SQ"

Sure enough...5/5!

So suddenly Warner is churning out 3 star day and date releases now that they don't support HD DVD day and date while Paramount is churning out 5 star releases.

I bet Paramount's first BD-exclusive release gets no more than 4 stars.

Let's face it, any CGI/animated film is probably going to a get a 5 for picture... I bet you "Bee Movie" gets it as well (should it come to HD DVD). While the 5 for sound should be slightly less due to the lack of lossless, Paramount is known for doing some really great 1.5mbps soundtracks and this is the type of film known for really great sound effects, so a 4.0 would have been more fair.

I would say that depends on Paramount's first BD release...

I think this movie is awful but the more interesting thing is that Paramount will finally start releasing on the standard format.

I think it's crap. The OP is probably mistaken or confused. If Paramount/Dreamworks marketing was so on-the-ball that they've already developed ads for their releases on Blu-ray, why does the official Bee Movie web site, which is created by the same marketing team, still say: "Coming to HD DVD!" ???

I'm much more interested in "Bee Movie" from DreamWorks than I am "There Will Be Blood" by Paramount...

Really???

Please tell me your joking around.. hard to tell on a forum.

Oscar winning (and worthy of it) acting vs a half-assed kids film. The original trailers for Bee Movie were better than the film itself..

Edit: although fair enough... same as you, thats just my opinion on it.

I'm serious... everything I've seen of "There Will Be Blood" looks ABSOLUTELY horrible. Oscar worthy/winning acting means little if you have no interest in the film. While I can't say I'm jumping up and down over "Bee Movie", I do want to see it... which is more than I can say for "There Will Be Blood"...

I think I have most of the kid friendly movies on blu-ray so this one will probably a pick up. Anything to get my kids off of Ratatouille is a good thing. i don't know if I can handle watching that movie over and over again.

Read this article which just came out about 28 minutes ago:

http://in.reuters.com/article/techno...32169220080227

DreamWorks plans to release the DVD version of "Bee Movie" next month and is waiting to hear back from Toshiba on how to proceed.

So Dreamworks must have Toshiba's permission to release their films on Blu? I thought this was settled when Toshiba gave HD-DVD a lethal injection?

That's great news!!! More for Paramount having Blu-rays than this particular movie though.

Thanks!

Seriously!! Your not just f'n with us? And you actually saw Blu-ray copies of the movie??

And I don't know why everyone is trashing this movie, I don't really like kid movies but thought this was pretty decent, not excellent or anything but def worth a blu purchase. I might like it more cause I'm a HUGE fan of Seinfeld and since the shows been done for 10yrs I'll take just about anything.

I did really see it. The only reason I checked was because I thought I heard that the HD DVD would be cancelled but there were no HD DVD versions in there, it was all Blu.

Although I wont be buying the movie, (Didnt see it, just heard bad things) I was still very excited

If indeed true, this is great news that Paramount is switching this quick. 3/11 is only 2 weeks away.
