Apologies to Bill for the furor.

For the others looking for some resolution on this, it does indeed look like the "final" specs that were released were in serious error, and the angels are back in Heaven.

Credit to Chris Beveridge, who received his review copy and posted commentary and the correct specs, which are not only wrong on the "final" spec, but also wrong in the back cover art.

Correct specs for Appleseed : Ex Machina Blu-ray

If someone chose to post on a forum, I don't see the harm in providing a link. I'd like to read the post myself.

I was going to buy this Blu-ray Disc. Now I will NOT.

Bill and other insiders,

please tell Warner that the lossy Dolby audio shit on Blu-ray Disc needs to stop NOW. We're tired of it. Real tired. And very pissed.

We're shelling out our hard-earned cash to the studio to buy their Blu-ray Disc releases. There is NO REASON why they shouldn't give us lossless audio. If space is tight on a super-loaded BD SE title, then drop another feature, but keep Lossless sound. It's profoundly more irritating when (99% of the time) there *is* plenty of space/bandwidth available yet Warner still goes with lossy sound.

Even if the sound technician in charge at Warner isn't able to hear the difference and doesn't understand what all the fuss is about, Warner needs to get a policy in place to correct this problem ASAP. Sony does it right. Fox does it right. Disney does it right. So can Warner.

Miramax has no distribution rights domestically, only internationally, so it's not going to happen that way.

Not to hijack this threed, but several of us had asked Bill if he had heard anything on the T3 replacement program.

I just called Warner to make sure I was still on the list (1-800-553-6937). She confirmed I was. She also stated that they should be shipping out the replacement discs within the next 7-10 days.

Would love to hear Bill's opinion though.
I'm not Bill, but...

I can't see why Toshiba would really care one way or the other about any HD DVD releases at this point. The format is dead. I'm sure if Paramount offered to drop all their releases in exchange for Toshiba getting their money back, Toshiba would take that offer in a heartbeat.

If anything, it's the Blu-ray titles at stake, with Toshiba claiming if Paramount releases anything on BD then they violated the agreement and are not entitled to the money.

I agree with that view completely.

Paramount probably thinks Toshiba broke the deal by quiting, Toshiba think Paramount didn't give them the 2 holiday seasons exclusive. If Paramount release a title on BD then Toshiba can say Paramount broke the deal.

What do you make of Jeffrey Katzenberg's comments from today?

http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssC...51290220080227

"We have a partnership with Toshiba and have an obligation to see this through," DreamWorks Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg said on Tuesday.

"As you know, we have been well-compensated for our support. It really is in their court at this point to really declare what the next step will be. We're poised either way to jump into the marketplace when the conditions are right to do so," he said

Bill feel free to also chime in!

From the new trailers on 'There will be Blood' saying it's exclusively on Hi-Def Blu ray. All the leaks of the March 4th embargo. Bills newest comments that the previous Paramount titles coming back out on BD.

And add in the Dreamworks comments today.

It's almost sounding like Paramount and Dreamworks might not be a package deal. Could it be that we get Paramount films announced next week and Dreamworks still dealing with the legal crap a bit longer?

Of course I'm just talking hypothetical right now since I know you can't really comment
