Gotta disagree, there, Six, because everything that KZ2 got wrong (huge amounts of post-processing, weapons drag that was finally removed, short campaign) was corrected in the awesome Killzone 3. Ialso say that Far Cry 2 was absolutely superb, and i still play Unreal Tournament 3 to this day!

Killzone 3 was a step down from KZ2. The second game was MUCH better than its sequel. The only thing improved in KZ3 was the multiplayer but the single player campaign was more enjoyable in 2. KZ3 for me wouldnt even be in the top 10 FPS

I agree. KZ2 while short felt like a complete game. KZ3 on the otherhand had such a terrible narrative that was painfully and obviously rushed.

My brother! Lifelong fan of the Unreal series and I still have UT3 installed on my desktop PC. When I need an FPS fix on my PC, this is my calling card, and Killzone 3 fits the bill on my PS3.

It's a shame that we won't see a fourth installment of the Unreal franchise when Epic releases their next game engine.

Oh I didn't mean the campaign honestly I only did part of both of them, I meant multiplayer, KZ2 was an extremely engaging totally different fps than we'd seen and while it didn't get the audience base it so rightfully deserved (being a ps3 exclusive, and also ps3s were still pretty expensive at the time). I felt it provided balance of skill and fun (you couldn't put the gaMe in run around with commando and extreme conditioning and go positive the way you could with mw2). Kz3 changed it a little, but with all the server patch issues (I just couldn't play the market map more than 300 some times lol) it lost a ton of its base.

The only thing KZ2 could have done better was have more unlocks and higher ranks lol. Beyond that, perfection.

Seriously, what is the appeal of matchmaking over server lists? I want to make my own game that people can find, not just one for friends who probably don't own the game or want to play (which seems to be as far as publishers want to go when it comes to making your own game)

YES! UT3 is probably my fave FPS of this generation. I just hope that Epic don't screw up the online on consoles on the next UT for the main reason I mentioned above.

Wait a second: we agree on something?

I think it's criminal that UT3 was overlooked by so many (I blame the COD zombies ). For its time, paired with the right PC hardware, it looked great and played even better. Nothing beats user-generated content, and this is one area where the UT franchise always excelled. All this talk about UT3 has me itching to play the game again.....

I actually have the PC version as well, but until I get a beast of a PC rig, it's gonna remain unplayed.

Also, free DLC, user created mods for the PS3 version, a proper arena based twitch shooter, it's pretty much the nonconformist of this generation. But like I said, I just hope Epic don't go the direction of the dudebro for the next UT game.

And as for something Killzone related...I sure hope the upcoming Vita spin off has a proper online layout (server lists and all), even if it means an almost certain online pass since that's the way Sony is these days.

The PC version is 5 years old, so any CPU and GPU released in the past 3-4 years will provide a framerate well above 60/second at the highest settings. The hardware requirements for the game weren't steep to begin with, so it will run well on a Core 2 Duo and a midrange video card with everything turned on (which is what I did); today's hardware would be sheer overkill though. It looked good for its time, but it will show its age against newer titles (then again, looks aren't everything).

Well I wasnt talking about how you connect to a game. Im talking about the actual content of the MP. It was improved in KZ3. There was more to do. More game modes, more mechanics (jetpacks, etc....). The class system got an upgrade. The close quarters combat made for some fun brutal kills. Great new maps with good level design and structure. These are just some of the stuff I could remember off the top of my head. KZ2 MP was good but KZ3's was better

I did a simplified measuring system of what you said

My laptop can barely run any games past 2003, so that's out of the question (guess I'll have to stick to UT99 and 04 for now). But I do hope on getting a PC sometime in the next year after I get a 3DTV (hopefully with Windows 7 instead of 8), so I'll have no problem in getting it to run. Maybe I'll even hook it up to said 3DTV.

What the guy above me said. It was a bit too chaotic for my tastes when I played the beta.

well then that explains it. Betas are not representative of the final product. Things are still being ironed out and not everything that it has to offer is accessible. The MP that shipped with the game was quite fun.

Figure I would resurrect this thread. Anyone playing this game anymore? I have the DLC and would like to find a couple people to play online with. Or if just another person still needs the online trophies in the DLC then that would work too. Otherwise I see a long trek to highest rank for me. Thanks.

The last time I tried to play online there were hardly any active games and the ones I found were dominated by clans, so I gave up. It's a shame as I loved this when it came out, superb online gaming and I used the Move controller which I got on with really well.

Never really got into the multi player but yes I still play the single player campaign from time to time. I'm one of the minority who actually enjoyed part 3 more than I did part 2.

Yep same when I've tried kz2 for kicks you just run into the hardcore holdouts who have got teams locked up, and it's impossible to have any fun when you're jumping in with HC players who haven't ever stopped playing the game.
