I don't often get in the wish list game but Sony controls a couple of titles that are part of a thoroughly neglected sub-genre.

From about 1959 to 1966, virtually every studio had an entry in the "spring break/surfing/kids at the beach" genre. AIPs Beach Party movies are the best known but there was a ton of them like WB's WHERE THE BOYS ARE. Most of these have found their way to DVD but I can't recall if a single one has been on Blu-ray yet.

Sony has two of the best.

They released an awful pan-and-scam DVD of GIDGET. This is, arguably the grand-daddy of them all, predating Beach Party by 4 years. Sandra Dee, James Darren, Cliff Robertson...not bad.

Sony also owns RIDE THE WILD SURF. This is another iconic 60's movie with theme by Jan and Dean...starring Shelly Fabares, Barbara Eden, Fabian and Tab Hunter.

If you consider that Twilight Time sells HIGH TIME, there should be room for movies like the above mentioned. HIGH TIME is terrific college life film from 1960. I really like it but it's distinctly a gentler film tempered by the starring presence of Bing Crosby.

Well, if we're going down this route in our suggestions Dex, then how about my namesake Columbia title:

here's a youtube trailer, but unfortunately the reviewer talks all the way throught it.

I wasn't aware that Amazon listing was full screen and DVD-R Joe. Right there, that gives TT twin good reasons for doing it...the Lalo Schifrin IST just being icing on the proverbial cake.

Not doing a very good job here predicting possible WWII movies, are we?

here's another wacky title I would love to see released, I don't think it has ever been release on DVD, so I doubt they even have an HD master for it. Edit: it's on itunes in HD so there is an HD master.

here's another lost gem that I haven't seen in a long time.

Yeah they are silly movies, but I love Classic Comedy
Really like your suggestions .

As long as I have been on these forums, i've never opened this thread because I thought the title said

"Twilight's time release schedule".

And figured it had something to do with the schedule of release dates for the Twilight movies....

When thinking about WWII films, I would love to have Sink the Bismarck!

Me too rkolinski! I absolutely love those vintage 40s through 60s Rank pictures.

I'm just not getting my hopes up that TT will have a shot at it though, because this was a title from Fox' War Classics series, which the studio might end up doing themselves (à la Von Ryan's Express).

Back in about 1979, I knew the girl who was the over-night disc jockey at a local top 40 rock station during the heyday of AM radio. My constant request to play the old Johnny Horton song SINK THE BISMARCK, was running gag...not to mention against station policy. But she did play it one night at about 2:00AM...assuming nobody would hear it and she wouldn't get in trouble. Arriving at work the next morning, I turned on the radio and heard the morning man asking in exasperation, "Why are so many people requesting SINK THE BISMARCK?"

I claim credit for putting SINK THE BISMARCK back in the local Top 40 chart for one week in 1979.

And it's a great movie that I'd buy in a second. I have a special affection for B&W 'Scope. I think the only Kenneth More I have on Blu-ray is GENVIEVE.

Cool, but I think it was a better chance of getting released by Mill Creek.

Never seen it but it looks like my kind of film - I'm in for just about any period film / costume drama.

Yay, announcements! These feel long overdue. I'm in for Experiment in Terror and Nicholas and Alexandra, at the very least.
