I'm going to go the semi-boycott route I think. I'll continue to buy Warner titles if they are on Blu-ray (not THD), and if I consider them as must-haves. I can wait to replace most of their catalog stuff until after they get their act together. The Departed I just had to have as I missed it in the theater. I would probably buy Batman Begins and Troy if they show up soon, but I probably have most of their catch-up titles on S-DVD anyway so it's easy to just wait.

That's good to know. What I originally said probably sounded a bit crass. I was pretty sure they would be, I'm just getting anxious since if this wasn't an issue HD-DVD would be much closer to its end, I think.

The Matrix trilogy is my all time favorite trilogy. What ticks me off about Warner is not only are they not releasing the big guns on Blu-ray yet, like V for Vendetta, Batman Begins, and now Matrix I, II, and III, they are half-a$$ing the transfers on BD when they could be using the extra space on BD to make their movies better--case in point, Happy Feet, that got the tail pipe treatment in the audio department, and many others that don't include PCM.

I hope they bury themselves with their retarded THD disc,...will serve them right.

yuup...but I own over 150 DVD's...so my signature just makes me look bad

edit: I don't think you can count superman movies...as I bought them more-so as a fan of comics rather than a fantastic movie product....

owning it in HD is the idea....

Warners have some great movie titles, Matrix is not one of them-hate the Matrix series. but they need to get their BD act together.

I think, for FOX, it might have something to do w/ the interactivity features that Warners is waiting for. I haven't read anything saying that, but it seems to be the releases of older titles that are getting shoved back by studios at the moment, not so much the releases that are coming out day-and-date w/ the DVD.

Like I said, I'm not saying this is the reason why, but I see a bit of a pattern. For example: Man on Fire, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Matrix Movies, From Hell (and the lack of dates for Batman and V). They're all older titles, and maybe they think that they need to put on special extra features to make us go for the upgrade. This is certainly not the case with me. I just wait for a few sites to review the BR version (or I rent it) and decide if the upgrade in P & SQ is worth it.

I honestly think that the people running warners might have a negative feeling towards blu ray, but I really think what their doing is more for a business deal.

This is how the market deals and this is how old business stay alive throughout the years.

1- They release LotR for DVD.
2- They release a full version for DVD.
3- A while later they could release it for HD DVD.
4- They release it for BD half a year later.
5- They release the full version for HD DVD.
6- They release the full version for BD.
7- Some years later they'll do it again for Super High-Depth.

All of these parts being played out after the market has been sucked up for every penny it's worth. Of course, even if they loved BD to death, what makes anybody think they would skip steps 3 and 5? Really stubborn people will run out and buy it for HD DVD and when BD comes out they'll run out and buy it again. In the end they double their sales by just using a strategic release date regime.

It's really all that simple. Anyone business man would do the same. These coorperations are out for the people, with themselves being more of the people.

I agree.

I am going to hold off on The Matrix (I only want the first one and Animatrix anyway) until I can buy it on BD.

Warner will see that the Departed sold 4:1 in BD's favor (hypotheticly), while Happy Feet only sold 1:1. They have to be asking themselves, where did we go wrong? The answer is The Departed had HD sound and Happy Feet did not!
I see your point, but at this early stage in the game, I will buy Happy Feet to show my support for Blu-ray. I'll give Warner a little more time to get their act together before I boycott. In the meantime I'm off to order Happy Feet from Amazon.
