I love the covers but I'm not too crazy about them being split up. How about doing one film per side and putting all the specs/info on the inner sleeve or in an insert?

I'm guessing you're talking about the double feature artwork? If the specs were only on an insert, anyone who does come across them in a store wouldn't know what the specs & extras were.

Do a card that works like a Japaese manga cover slip, that only covers about the bottom quarter. With some advertising stuff on the front, and specs on the back.

Companies have got to stop offering swag with their Blu-rays. This nonsense with magnets, slipcovers and posters causes them nothing but headaches and it's gotten WAY out of hand..

I've seen this dozens of times where customers get more worked up about the free crap than the movie itself. It's like the Twilight Time customers and the magnets from Screen Archives. People in the Universal Monsters thread are more concerned about creased boxes than the discs.

I've bought three of the last four Scream Factory releases (Halloween III, The Funhouse and Terror Train). I'm delighted with the movies. I think they may have had slipcovers but I always throw the slipcovers away so I didn't notice.

Scream Factory: Just put movies in secure plastic cases. That's it. Save yourself the aggravation.

it wasn't just the poster. I could've ordered the movie through amazon for cheaper, but to support the manufacturer directly and get something pretty cool for ordering WAAAAAY before I had to, I chose to order before. If I try to reach out to a company to correct something is wrong just to have them say "SORRY You can't buy this now" is really pathetic. I expected maybe some sort of personal email with a resolution that would make both happy. Just a "hey i got your email and we cancelled your order that at the time you had the money for, but now that you don't have the account, we no longer want your money."

Do you just rail on this subject in every thread in which you post? It's gettng very tiring.
Why don't you start a thread about "anit-swag" and post to your hear's desire! You see, you are in the minority when it comes to fancy packaging and extras. Sorry!

Yes, I was referring to the double features. But you have brought up an interesting issue. I don't know if many people are swayed into buying a movie because of a synopsis, list of extras or anything that might be printed on back covers. I suspect most people who buy movies like TerrorVision or The Evictors already know the films. OTOH, you could argue that someone who may not be familiar with the movie will probably make an impulse buy if they read a hyped up summary or crirical blurb but the conumdrum with that scenario is you've got a film that has probably been overrated/sensationalized, in which case the customer will be turned off to future releases if he/she doesn't like the film. Personally, I never buy a DVD or Blu-ray based solely on what I read on a back cover. I used to do that back in the VHS days and ended up renting a lot of really bad movies.

The best option IMO would be to include a removable cardboard slip with all relevant info. That way there's room for all the beautiful artwork

Or perhaps a reversible cover with the respective film art on both sides?

Admittedly, I'm not thrilled with the decision to do a double feature, but the two flicks do have a thematic link, and ultimately, neither TerrorVision nor The Video Dead are nearly as well known as some of the other titles getting individual releases, which definitely is a factor in that decision. I've seen Cliff state on this forum and on the DVDTalk forums, more than once, that although he'd like to see all the stuff put out get Blu-Ray releases, it's just not economically feasible. With the titles in question, I think the overall choice was individual DVD-only releases, or a double feature combo pack, and as a devout Blu-Ray collector, I would ultimately rather go with the latter.

As others have said, I presume this means we will see The Evictors and The Town That Dreaded Sundown getting a double feature release as well (again, both films share the same director, so there's at least one link which would make sense to package the two).

***HALLOWEEN WEEKEND SPECIAL "TRIPLE THREAT" ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW!"

Since we love the month of October so much -- and it is the last weekend before Halloween -- we've decided to add THREE titles to our weekly Friday announcement tomorrow for you guys! Hints: All are from the 80s and have never been on DVD before.

Please note: These said films will not show up on our schedule until later in 2013 so we cannot confirm they will be on Blu-ray as we have not seen the masters yet. We say this only to manage expectations. More details on these fun flicks will be presented next year. :-)
I think Without Warning, Cellar Dweller and The Horrow Show.

Tomorrow is going to be one hell of a Friday! I'm going to have to think about this one for a while before I place my guesses. This could be the best announcement day yet though!

Since these have never been released on DVD before, do you think Scream Factory considers MOD releases as being "never before released"? If not, then I think "New Year's Evil" has a good shot of being one of the three since they said not to expect these until much later in 2013. Could make for a good holiday related title.

If these are MGM titles, then our choices are surely pretty narrow:

Catacombs
Cellar Dweller
Demented
The Eliminators
Enemy Territory
Ghost Town
The Godsend
Home Sweet Home
The Horror Show
Hospital Massacre
The Rejuvenator
Sonny Boy
To All A Goodnight
Transmutations (AKA Underworld)
Without Warning

Leaving out some of the more minor titles, and even including some more action-type titles than horror ones (The Eliminators, Enemy Territory, Sonny Boy). I may have missed some out. I'd love Sonny Boy but can't see it unfortunately.

I think Shout counts MOD as being released on DVD Frightener - remember how last week they said 'never released on Blu-ray before' about The Incredible Melting Man?

Home Sweet Home, To All A Goodnight and New Year's Evil would make for a very interesting holiday-themed slasher triple feature though...

Good point! That said, here are my guesses for this week:

- "Without Warning"
- "The Horror Show"
- "Cellar Dweller"

Well at least we'll either both be spot on or completely wrong...

The first two are definitely the most high-profile on the list I'd say.

What's interesting though are Scream's concerns that HD masters might not be available for these titles. I'm sure Without Warning has aired in HD (could be wrong), and know Sonny Boy has. Would Scream not be aware of this already? And I wonder also if the 'Triple Threat' moniker does hint at a triple-feature...

Another good point, BarnDoor. A triple feature could very well on the horizon, I could see "Cellar Dweller", "Open House" and "Ghost Town" being packaged together. I feel like those films would compliment each other nicely.
