I'm wondering the same thing, I would really like the blu-ray digi-pack as it will match the season 1 digi-pack I already have. I'll be really disappointed if I have to buy the regular edition to get the season.

I'm not really a fan of the head and my fiance' would freak out if I put it in our house, but I would like the blu-rays contained within

if anyone has an answer or insight that would be awesome

I think nobody knows the real answer for sure.

But your best bet is to assume it will never be released separately. I say, buy the Zombie Head edition, keep the BD digi-pack case and try to sell the head alone on eBay or your co-workers, friends...

The cost of the series with the head is only $20-$30 more, and i'm sure the head can be sold for at least $20-$25.

I thought about doing that until I noticed how well the spine of the season 1 digipak matches up with the slipcover of season 2.

With news that Season 3 will be even more episodes than Season 2 I'm a bit worried that it'll turn into more of a soap opera.

Guess I'll find out a month from now.
I thought both seasons are great, but I also think that S1 is a bitter better because, as you said, it's faster paced and it seems like new things happen in each episode. For S2, there are several plot lines that just seem to span too many episodes before being resolved.

The S2 Blu-ray is also $29.99 right now, which looks like it's the cheapest it's ever been so far. I'm not used to buying television shows on Blu-ray so I don't know if this is a good price for a 13 episode set (I thought $20 was a good price for season 1, then I realized there were only 6 episodes haha), or if I should wait to see about Black Friday. I'm in no hurry to buy it, I've already seen all of S2 on Netflix.

Season 1 was mostly great...then they gave up the boring season finale. Season 2 had waaay too much boring soap opera. Season 3 is great so far buy they might screw it up again. Anyway I will wait until the series is over before buying a complete box set. I did that with Stargate Atlantis and Lost.

For those that don't like a little thing called character development, you can always watch the alternate version of Season 2...it's called a video game.

Sometimes character development is boring and uninteresting.

And if you want watch terrible writing with moronic twists and turns tune into the current version of WD S2.

Or just watch something that's not boring and more interesting instead. Now that
[Show spoiler]Shane is gone, I like the show a lot more. I couldn't stand him.

Well I guess you would've rather had the comic version
[Show spoiler]of Shane's death, as it happened much earlier.

Yeah I read that, I wish.
[Show spoiler]I'm not sure if it was completely the character I hated or if it was the character and Jon Bernthal. Either way I believe I could have enjoyed the show a lot more without him.

I'm just about done with TWD Compendium Vol.2(not sure if you've read that far or not), but you really see
[Show spoiler]how much of an affect Shane's outlook had on Rick. Personally I really liked the character of Shane...he turned out to be right! It is a hard world and hard choices have to be made. Even though those decisions weren't the most popular, they were for the greater good.

I guess I should have specified. I meant I read about that character in the discussion thread, I never read any of the comics. I'd say maybe if I had a better understanding of the character it wouldn't be so bad, but I honestly think I'd feel the same way.
