Well, aren't you glad you'll never have to worry about that?

(Lucas, it seemed, did a little lighter dousing of his own... )

"Because now that Disney owns it, they can do ANYTHING!"
Well, Tinkerbell notwithstanding, they can't do the impossible...

I don't need to look for George's Lost Vault, where a hundred pristine film negatives of the UOT lie in air-conditioned high-tech preservation, somewhere out in the desert next to where they buried all those Atari E.T. cartridges--
I can see the answer in his face, and in every interview. Every time complaints about "Where's the UOT?" come out, Lucas acts very, very suspiciously.

And when I mean "suspiciously", I don't simply mean "Disgruntled, petulant and unreasonable to being 'picked on' by 'unsatisfied' fanboys"...I mean "suspicious" as in, "Why did OJ never get around to looking for the 'real killer'? "
As in, he knows, and he knows we know he knows, and he knows he can't really physically do, or undo, anything about the fact that we know, except to keep stalling the question and pretending to change the subject and move the goalposts.
So we'll get more complaints about "But they're MY films!" And more defense of a director's rights to change them. And more defenses that he DID release the laserdisk version on DVD. And more complaints that the fanboys will never be satisfied out of pestering him personally, and how he's washed his hands of the whole mess and not even bothering to try and satisfy them anymore. Everything except that Big Embarrassing Confession that we know is never, ever coming.
And as long as it doesn't, fanboys are still out in the desert with shovels, still digging up nothing but sand and old Atari cartridges.

I'm really excited about not having to fast forward through certain scenes when watching the OT.

Never bought into the expanded universe. Never bought into the Clone Wars cartoon. The Star Wars story was and will forever be the story of Anakin Skywalker.

And with this situation, I can truly be done with it. Thank you, George for everything you've contributed to cinema. You deserve a great retirement.
Pissed off about it too, huh?

According to an update at AICN, Twentieth Century Fox will retain ownership and distribution of the six existing Star Wars films.

He didn't have it in him? What are you talking about? He started writing episode i in 1994. He didn't finish the prequels until 2005. That's 11 ****ing years to devote to something that he has no interest in.

I swear, some star wars fans are just that delusional when it comes to the so-called atrocity's lucas has done to the franchise.

Grow the hell up.

Disney can hire another person his size to step into the role. He's expendable.

7,8,9 confirmed, + another one every 2 years? This will be milked dry, and then some. Will never compete with 4,5,6, tho. Dunno how I feel about this. I will get back to everyone on this after I go over it for a while. I feel as that I'm owed some restitution here

We'll eventually see the theatrical cuts restored, though. Disney may have to deal with Fox for distribution, but they'll certainly get them out there.
And as far as this new trilogy goes, Disney is so huge that they don't need to deal with 20th Century Fox for distribution.

I don't know guys. To me episode VI was the definitive conclusion to a great saga. I mean Darth Vader sacrificing himself for his son and thus regaining the force again. He came full circle in that act and was the chosen one all along
Disney making more Star Wars movies would ruin what I have taken away from the originals. Say it ain't so George

The general public didn't know he was even a good fit for the Batman universe until after Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. So, I would go for a Nolan-helmed Star Wars, same for Spielberg.

Pretty excited we'll be getting new SW trilogy and even more movies. Sure they will be at least decent entertainment. Now I am really worried if John Williams has much time left. Cannot think of someone to fill his shoes for Star Wars, even with recycling the old themes.
Is there any real news on the original unaltered trilogy being released in HD/Bluray? This would be great of course, though I actually like some changes like the extra Hoth snow beast footage, fixing the landspeeder FX, and ewoks blinking (makes em less cutesie) and getting rid of the ewok song.
Oh yeah, hope Disney doesn't put their logo all over every thing, and will miss the Fox fanfare.

if Ep7 hits on 2015 will GL and/or Disney still release the 3D version's of 2-6? and IMHO Ep1 3D Needs to be Re-done. that first 3D was not very good.

Spielberg would be great too however he hasn't been in the Star Wars loop for a while, besides having ET's in Episode 1, lol!!
Not to mention, a Yoda in E.T.

I'm actually excited for this solely because it means Lucas won't be a part of these anymore.

Also, what do you think the chances are of Disney re-releasing the films remastered and unaltered?

(Sorry if both of those things have been discussed, I don't want to read through 37 pages)
