So, I just emailed Disney's DVD/Blu-Ray department asking if it was true that Tarzan is about to be re-released theatrically in 3D...

We do not have any release details for this title at this time. Although we do not have a tentative release date set, we would be happy to share with the rest of our team that you would like to have this available on 3D for purchase! Your feedback helps us build a better experience for all of our guests and is truly appreciated!

Ha Ha yes, I mentioned Tarzan conversion work in other threads awhile back , It was one of the earliest 3D conversion being tested by real d and Disney back in 05, in Hollywood.
the Tree surfing scene was used in the demo reel and looked amazing. glad to see its going to get a release.

That's a weird response...

That site which posted the Tarzan 3D poster has said this:

Quote:

More or less, it seems to say that the poster was just fanart. Damn. Certainly well made fanart. I must say, I'm very disappointed. Hopefully we'll see this for real one day soon!

Does anyone here own the Polish release of this BD. I'm curious to know if it suffers from the same flickering/banding/blocking as the UK and Middle Eastern release. I've been doing my research and reading reviews for this title and in every country its a mixed bag, some are good and some are bad. I'm wondering if people are not paying close attention to notice the problems on the video or if some discs are actually good. Any info is appreciated.

There is no "Polish release" per se, these releases are "area specific" (one disc / many countries). The Polish release is the same as the Greek release for example and yes, the flicker is there. I'm just saying this for future reference.

^ Gotcha, thanks. I guess it would be Czech one then.
[Show spoiler]

I just translated a few words from the back of the case on google and I got results for polish to english translations. So I assumed it was a Polland release.

The title on the front of the case and on the disc is in english though. Weird.

Yes, the reissue will fix the picture problems but, unfortunately, nobody has said anything about improved audio .

I don't know which address you should send the email to. Ask in the Official Disney UK thread.

In The Netherlands there will also be a reissue (officially released Sept. 24, not yet available though):

http://www.cosmox.nl/film/tarzan-blu-ray-8717418380694

No official news about the picture quality, but as you can see the audio is being specified as "DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1".

Still haven't seen any convincing proof the problems were really solved... And with that I mean screenshots showing the previously problematic shots of course.

Good on ya, Disney. People talk trash about the company all the time, but even when it takes time to sort out problems, they seem to do the right thing with correction discs. True-Life Adventures, Walt Disney Treasures, Pinocchio, etc.

Just wanted to clarify that while the problem is very noticeable on video it's not so apparent on screenshots. But yeah, I'd like to see a screenshot or two to compare with my copy

Two is the exact number I would say as well, as these would be most interesting, because they're showing the old problems best:
