1. The Burning

2. The Town That Dreaded Sundown

3. Lifeforce

4. Deadly Blessing

5. The Howling

What's Yours?

So far, Scream Factory has secured deals with Mgm, Universal, and Anchor Bay. That we know of...

Has it been confirmed that there's an actual deal with Anchor Bay?

I would have just assumed that Anchor Bay lost the rights to Day Of The Dead.

Here's the thing that worries me about The Howling, and Day of the Dead.
Shout Factory- only works with what the licensors give them, they don't do new scans.
As grateful as I am for Halloween II, III, and They Live- they are just average Universal transfers that people would slam if they weren't put out by Shout Factory.
They apply tweaks to the transfers they get, but on something like The Howling or Day of The Dead- there's nothing they can do to actually meaningfully improve anything...

Yeah. Should be at least 2 memorable things.

I'd label Ghosts of Mars as Carpenter's low point - its absolutely embarrassing, and has aged worse than any of his other films.
It's kind of a toss up for me as to whether I like The Fog or The Ward more. I've enjoyed The Fog, but never thought it was great. I admit that I have probably only watched the DVD of it twice in.. no idea how many years it's been since I bought it. I'm not saying I think The Ward is great either. But it's about equally entertaining for me to watch.

Ghosts of Mars I like more then both of those. It might not be what people consider a "good film" but I find it a fun ride. I wish the BD had better PQ so I could get it. All that said, I'll still be getting the BD of The Fog when it comes out as long as the quality is good.

I confess...I finally bought GHOSTS OF MARS last week . I had been waiting for it to show up on sale and in-stock at amazon.ca. For some reason, the dialogue in the first 15 minutes of the movie sounds like it was written by a junior high school student.

Honestly, if Natasha Henstridge wasn't in this movie, I probably wouldn't be a fan. She just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

You do know Shout!/Scream listens to their audience including complainers like yourself. I don't have a crystal ball in front of me, but it is possible they could improve. Scream started out as a small division for select titles created by Shout! Factory they might have funds to do better restorations by the time these titles come out. Let's try to be positive that we're actually getting these titles and maybe there will be a positive outcome.

It just pisses me off that Shout! does good enough business with their cult films/TV shows and music releases. They didn't have to give us Scream, but they gave it to us and some of us can't even appreciate that much.

They didn't give us Scream, it's not a new devision- it's a just masthead. Y'know like "Sapphire Series".
Also not a complainer, more like an observer.
They have done wonderfully so far, but they get more credit than they deserve.
The 2006 HD Transfer of Day of the Dead with (some) new features isn't as interesting as a 2012 HD transfer with old features.

Yep, there's no deal with AB, they just lost the rights to some of their movies including this one.

Not true. I supervised almost every Corman transfer and we did Deadly Blessing and Death Valley.... And I could list a lot more.
We don't do scans because they are expensive and we don't own the films.

Okay, who did the rights revert back to after they lost those rights? And if they lost it, why is "Day of the Dead" still listed on Anchor Bay's site. "Dawn of the Dead" isn't listed though, and it wasn't picked up by any other company that we know of...

I wouldn't THINK they made a deal with Anchor Bay, but it doesn't sound insanely crazy does it?
Just asking

Maybe Cliff can clear this up?

I stand corrected and beg your forgiveness.
I am sorry.

What I meant to say is- with something already out in HD, I don't expect much improvement.
I say this because you don't do new scans.
Either way I'll buy everything you guys do- always have and will.

If they have rights to AB titles, great. I would be more impressed if SF was able to get the license to release Hammer Horror titles.

That being said, after all the announcements SF have given us I'm more than content for now and respect them taking a break for a bit.

I can't speak for anyone else but me, but this announcement simply floored me.

People need to stop getting ahead of themselves. I'm sorry, but don't try to act like your an insider or know the in's and out's out of the company and manufacturing blu-ray discs, unless your Cliff. We all know every one has a dream list, sorry to say you guys are getting your hopes up way too high.

Expect nothing and when an announcement is made, let it be reason to rejoice.
